		Elections to the European Parliament were held from June 10, 2004 to June 13, 2004 in the 25 member states of the European Union, using varying election days according to local custom.
		A European Union-wide political party, the European Greens, was established in Rome on 21 February 2004 to contest this election.
		The elections coincided with legislative elections in Luxembourg and presidential elections in Lithuania.

	Preview of the 2004 European Parliament Elections
		The upcoming election for the European Parliament appears, in many respects, less like one European-wide election than 25 parallel elections in each member state.
		Rather than identifying clearly discernible patterns running across the whole of the European Union, we find different trends emerging in different countries in the principal aspects of the elections: namely campaign issues, likely voter turn-out, the kinds of candidates whose names will appear on the slates and the eventual outcome.
