The E94 is part of the international E-road network, which is a series of main roads in the European Union.
The E94 starts in western Greece in Corinth, Greece and runs east through Megara (Greece) and Eleusis (Greece) and ends in the Greek capital of Athens at the Saronic Gulf in the east.

The scenic route to Igoumenítsa/Corfu is by train or bus to Kalambáka (home to the famous Metéora), and then bus to Igoumenítsa.
Unfortunately, they have a monopoly on certain routes, mainly to less populated areas or islands, where the air routes operate as a state-subsidized public service (but the subsidies have come to an end under EU airline deregulation).
A taxi isn't really faster, the first part of the route to the port is one big construction site where a taxi can't pass busses or other traffic, and on the second part (the road along the coast) the bus actually went faster than most taxis.
