European Theatre of World War II - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The European Theatre was an area of heavy fighting from 1939 to 1945 during World War II.
After Germany was defeated in World War I, the Treaty of Versailles placed punitive conditions on the country, including significant financial reparations, the loss of territory (some only temporarily), and war guilt clauses.
On 3 September 1939, Britain and France declared war on Germany and British troops were sent to France, however neither French nor British troops gave any significant assistance to the Poles during the entire Polish September Campaign, and the German-French border, excepting the Saar Offensive, remained calm.

 A Republic, Not an Empire
Yes, Buchanan thinks the United States would have done well to stay out of the European theatre during World War II.
But he expresses the same view about World War I, the Gulf War, the Bosnian conflict, the air war over Kosovo and, what he considers to be the original sin of American’s shameful transformation from republic to "empire," President William McKinley’s annexation of the Philippines in 1898.
Buchanan’s views on World War II are unorthodox, but they are far from wacko.

It is true, of course, that the United States did not emerge from the war a defeated nation, in the manner of those countries on the losing side in the First and Second World Wars.
In the aftermath of the war, indeed even to the time of this writing, so-called "veterans" have debased the experiences of those who actually served by bogus claims not only to veteran status itself, but also to battle honors.

 Analysis
The Western European theatre of World War II provides an ideal viewpoint for showing the effect of air armament in war because it generally possessed the best fighting craft of any theatre in the war at a given time and had much variety of air tactics and fighting.
In showing the importance of air power, so uniquely displayed during World War II, it is necessary to discuss four parts.
Added together however, they provide a comprehensive viewpoint of how war was changed by the technology of flying craft with weapons.

Front Page Feature - The Weirs Times
In its nearly 10 years of publication, (The Weirs Times will celebrate its 10th anniversary in June), the newspaper has chronicled histories of New Hampshire’s Civil War regiments, of veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam, as well as more recent military conflicts.
David Lawton, who encouraged Weirs Times writers and contributors to develop stories for the Veterans Day issue as a way of showing the same kind of support for today’s soldiers, sailors and airmen in their fight against terrorists that previous generations had experienced during times of war, was caught off guard by the unexpected honor.
He said that the paper’s historic masthead, (based on Matthew Calvert’s original Weirs Times, which was published 1883-1902) shows a view of The Weirs looking at Weirs Bay from the Veterans Campground which was established by New Hampshire’s Civil War veterans.
