On March 23, 2004, two draws were held to determine the running-order for the Semi-Final and Final events.
The contest was won by the Ukrainian entrant, Ruslana Lyzhichko, with the song Wild Dances, which won 280 points.

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2004 was the second Eurovision Song Contest for young singers aged 8 to 15.
It was held on November 20, 2004, in Håkons Hall, Lillehammer, Norway with a live television show of 2 hours and 15 minutes presented by Stian Barsnes Simonsen and Nadia Hasnaoui which was broadcast in 20 countries and viewed by 100 million people.
The contest was won by 9-year-old María Isabel with her song 'Antes Muerta Que Sencilla' (Better Dead Than Normal).

The 49th Annual Eurovision Song Contest held in Istanbul took place over two days with a qualifying round and a final held in May. This DVD covers all of the footage from the shows as well as an interview with the winning entry, Ukraine's Ruslana with Wild Dances.
The songs sound great, with the notable ones being from Greece, Ukraine, etc. Also full credit to Turkey for not just putting on a great show but for sticking a ska/punk band in to the mix of the usual pop.
But this does not overshadow the complete fun that is the Eurovision Song Contest, if you are completely in love with Eurovision I suggest you get this right away, its sort of like having a CD, you skip back and forth to songs you like.

Missed the songs as was at a dinner with German friends of mine, but got in just as the voting started, god that was the most political voting I have ever seen.
Apart from that the contest leaves me thinking that the only thing Europe is really concerned about is some flashy dance moves and the dubious good looks of the contestants.
