The Eurovision Song Contest 2005 was the fiftieth edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, which was held at the Palace of Sports, Kyiv, Ukraine.
The song is written by Alexandre Honrado, Ernesto Leite and José da Ponte and composed by Ernesto Leite and José da Ponte.
Indeed, for many weeks the song, which almost certainly owes its victory to its familiarity as an unofficial anthem of the Orange Revolution, appeared to be in danger of falling foul of two criteria for eligibility as an entry in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Télé-Liban has confirmed to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) the withdrawal of Lebanon from the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 (ESC 2005) to be hosted in Kiev by NTU, the national Ukrainian broadcaster, on 19 and 21 May.
According to Lebanese national legislation, Télé-Liban is not permitted to broadcast the performance of the Israeli participant, thereby breaching the rules of the Eurovision Song Contest 2005.
With 39 countries represented in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, this year shall hold the record for the highest number of participants.

A good Eurovision song should be instant and not many of these songs have that instantaneousness (if there is such a word!).
Real highlights include Chiara with Angel(Malta), Romania are their song let me try, Latvia was quite good too but without a shadow of a doubt the Show was stolen by the Isreali entry, Shiri Maymon her song is lovely and her voice is amazing alot better than the usual standard of eurovision.
If you love Eurovision then this is a great album and one that is very easy to listen to except that is for the Polish entry which would give you a headache.

This would normally have included Serbia and Montenegro (7th in 2005), but that country's late withdrawal from the Contest means that its place in the Final is given to Croatia (11th in 2005) instead.
Due to their disappointing results in 2005, Austria and Hungary would normally take part in the 2006 Semi Final - however, both countries have withdrawn from the 2006 Contest, Austria in protest at its recent poor results, and Hungary due to financial pressures at national broadcaster MTV.
