For the past eighteen years, The Eurovision Young Dancers competition has been one of the premier dance events in Europe.
Contemporary and classical dancers, aged between 15 and 21 years, compete against each other for one week, for the title of “Eurovision Young Dancer”.

Dancers from ten countries have made it through to the Final of the Eurovision Young Dancers 2003 that will be held in Amsterdam on 4 July.
The dancers, two couples and eight solo artists, competing for the title of Eurovision Young Dancers in contemporary and classical dance will perform live for European television.
The jury chose dancers from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Latvia, the Netherlands, the Ukraine, Sweden, Romania, and Switzerland.

Team Eurovision thought he gave one of the best performances a UK act has given in recent years, and it’s a shame that didn’t translate into a few more points – although it’s worth noting that those points did seem to come from a wider spread of countries than in recent years.
According to Dot Eurovision, Skante Stockselius, executive supervisor of Eurovision, is none too happy that Night’s song Congratulations features the f-word (as in the line ‘the vote is in, I’ll f-ing win’) and has written to the EBU to complain.
It’s been a long while since a ballad actually won Eurovision, but this could well be the one to break the stranglehold that uptempo numbers have had on the contest of late, since it’s big, gutsy and powerful enough to avoid much of the drippiness that often accompanies the slower contenders.

Team Eurovision knew that 2005’s main event was over once and for all when it found itself playing the Kaiser Chiefs the other day instead of listening to Helena Paparizou for the 900th time.
The fact is that Eurovision has gone from being an annual event to a year-round concern – winners Greece are already starting to plan the 2006 contest, while the less successful countries are beginning to think of ways in which they might be able to do better next year.
Except for Team Eurovision that is, who immediately spotted that their entry, The Image Of You, was a cracking track that would do very well indeed – and so it did, breezing through the semi-final and scoring a very respectable seventh place on the night itself.

It was very pleasing though, to see a sweet-toothed young woman showing parts of her body that others are ashamed of.
The ballet dancers stay in the back of the stage without looking akward and the lady who comes out of the piano should be considered as a brilliant idea.
This is another song that wouldn't exist outside of eurovision, and it works to a formula that is quite enjoyable, but suffers a little from feeling overly familiar.

The rather sexy young Kylie lookalike sang the first verse of her song completely off key and was rewarded by the population of Europe by scoring nul point (Sky News ran a survey this morning -was this the worst Eurovision performance ever ?).
When I was young, I was fascinated by news items that described a crime and mentioned that someone was helping police with their enquiries.

 Eurovision Young Dancers 2003
On Friday 4 July, NPS will broadcast live from the Stadsschouwburg Theatre in Amsterdam the Eurovision Young Dancers competition that brings together some of Europe's finest dancing talents in one TV programme.
In this year's competition, 29 June-4 July, 19 dancers will participate in the final of the contest.
The dancers will be from: Armenia, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Great Britain, Greece, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland (TSR), and Ukraine.

Their reluctance to move towards the ethnic styles that are so popular in the contest these days actually works in their favour as they stand out with one of the strongest ballads this year.
Although technically there is no reason why Eurovision songs have to be pure pop, they need to be pretty amazing if they're not and still want to do well, and this is not (but it still did better than us!).
This young lady (not that she appears particularly ladylike in the video) has managed to ruin one of my favourite mindless dance tunes from the 90s, Baby D's Let Me Be Your Fantasy.

I participated in the Eurovision Competition for Young Dancers, which is broadcasted and that really became a greeting card for the international stage.
A dancer of today receives first of all a classical training, but the input of contemporary dance is becoming more important, which is a positive thing, because when you see the repertoire of this company, the dancer needs to be extremely versatile and prepared to do various styles.
On the other hand, the young generation of Russian dancers goes a lot further and is much more extravagant than her.
