Following the success of Eurovision Young Musicians, a parallel competition for young dancers was established in 1985.
When the UK hosted the contest in 2001, the BBC was unable to transmit the programme live, and the 2005 competition was not broadcast until three months after it took place.
Young Dancers did not return for a 2007 edition, the EBU replaced it with a Eurovision Dance Contest.

By a unanimous vote from the jury, Milou Nuyens of the Netherlands has won the 11th Eurovision Young Dancers competition hosted by Polish Television (TVP) at the The National Theatre in Warsaw on 24 June 2005.
Milou Nuyens, aged 20, was born in Amsterdam, studied at the Rotterdam Dance Academy and is currently living in the Hague, where she continues to dance and take conga lessons at the music academy.
She was awarded the Eurovision Young Dancers 2005 prize for her performance of Snakesense, choreographed by Regina van Berkel and set to music by Tricky Cris/Cet Merlin.

The winner of the 2005 Eurovision Junior was adorable Kseniya Kitnik from Belarus and her song "My Vmeste." The 10-year-old girl was simply amazing and persuaded everyone that she should be this year’s winner.
The stage was flooded by thousands of small red and white lights, the colours of the new Eurovision Junior logo, which were projected in the stadium, whilst giving the feel of a glamorous Junior rock party.

I'm not certain about the backing dancers - the small brunette on the right was good (her in the picture on the left) - but the tall one seemed to be out of sync, not to mention a lot bigger than everybody else which looked weird (picture on the right).
Malin has a good voice (especially for someone so young) so I expect to hear about her in the future...
It is interesting listening to the competition again and noting that it seems the elder ones who suffered from nerves - look at Joni's eyes and tell me she isn't high or scared.
