  The Tomb of Eurydike
The throne with the painted depiction of Pluto and Persephone in a quadriga, circa 340 BC, Vergina, Tomb of Eurydike.
The unusual Tomb of Eurydike lies slightly east of the Rhomaios Tomb.
The wealth of this tomb, which had been plundered in antiquity, indicates a royal burial; on the basis of chronological data, it is attributed to Philip's mother Eurydike, inscribed dedications of whom have been found in the temple of Eukleia at Aigai.

(Site not responding. Last check: )
The bones in the burial are of a man in middle age, as Arrhidaios would have been, and a woman in her early 20s, roughly the age of Eurydike (if on the old side, see in problems).
The identification of the object in the coin as the scepter is unclear; such identifications often are, nonetheless, the basic argument that he didn't bury, but inherited it, remains.
Last, the dating of the woman's bones to early/mid-20s could be too old for Eurydike, who may have been in her late teens, but we don't know her actual birthdate to confirm.

As he went his heart was filled with things to tell her--how the trees were blossoming in the garden she had left; how the water was sparkling in the fountain; how the doors of the house stood open; how they, sitting together, would watch the sunlight on the laurel bushes.
And all he heard spoken was a single word, "Farewell!" Long, long had it taken Eurydike to climb so far, but in the moment of his turning around she had fallen back to her place amongst the dead.
Again they were together, Orpheus and Eurydike, and them the Erinyes could not torment with memories of crimes and faults.

 Bryn Mawr Classical Review 2001.03.02
At the Ptolemaic court amphimetric strife occurred right from the beginning with the children of Eurydike (the daughter of Antipatros) and Berenike; the sons of the courtesan Thais, Lagos and Leontiskos, clearly had no (realistic) regal aspirations.
Instead of supposing that a 'dynastic name' (which is how I would define 'Eurydike' in fourth-century Macedon) bestowed special status on the female, O. suggests that 'Philip II renamed his wife, Audata, [Eurydice]...after his mother, and, more significantly, his father's wife, as a means of expressing his succession to his father' (p.
231); she was an attendant and kinswoman of Eurydike, and although she may have been considered Ptolemy I's concubine at some early stage, even the most hostile contemporary source would have found it impossible to convince his readers that Berenike was a whore, if indeed anyone would even have dared to do so.

Eurydike (1) * People, Places, & Things * Greek Mythology: From the Iliad to the Fall of the Last Tyrant
Kreon became king of the city of Thebes after the two sons of Oedipus, Polynikes (Polynices) and Eteokles (Eteocles), were killed in battle; Kreon refused to give Polynikes a proper burial and imprisoned Oedipus’ daughter, Antigone, in a cave when she disobeyed his command and gave Polynikes a proper burial.
Kreon then decided to free Antigone but before he could free her, she had already killed herself; Kreon’s son, Haemon, tried unsuccessfully to kill his father and then, in desperation, killed himself; when Eurydike heard of her son’s death, she too committed suicide.
In the poem, Shield of Herakles (Heracles) by Hesiod, Kreon’s wife is said to be Eniokhe (Enioche); since Hesiod predates Sophokles we should assume that Eniokhe was, in fact, the name of king Kreon’s wife.

Eurydike, meanwhile, fought down the feeling that she'd just been smitten with the lighting bolt of foreshadowing.

Mythology says that Orpheus married the Naiad nymph, Eurydike, who met a tragic death the first day of their marriage when a shepherd named Aristaeus, a lustful young man who tended the flocks of the Muses, chased her.
Poor Eurydike, in her haste to get away, trod on a snake and died of the poisonous bite.
The only condition he imposed was that on the return journey, he was not to look back, under any circumstances, until they reached the light of day.

 Rabbe Enckell, Olof Enckell
Enckell's fascination with antiquity, Greek and Roman myths, was seen in his verse collection LUTAD ÖVER BRUNNEN (1942), in which he occasionally uses classical meters.
His classical studies also gave birth to such verse plays as Orfeus och Eurydike, IOKASTA (1939), HEKUBA (1952), and MORDET PÅ KIRON (1954).
In the late 1930s Enckell's cosmic views changed into microcosmic explorations: small animals and insects started to appear in his poems.

In May 1992, Northwestern University's Theatre Center presented the world premiere of "Orpheus and Eurydike," a new experimental opera conceived and directed by choreographer and filmmaker Johannes Birringer.
"Orpheus and Eurydike," derived from the classical myth of the loss and suffering of Orpheus as he attempts to recover his wife Eurydike from the underworld, was conceived by Birringer as a performance experiment in new music, dance-theatre, and film/video.
Theatrically, the opera draws from several physical and cinematic vocabularies such as European tanztheater, Japanese butoh dance and avant-garde video art.
