 The Burgos Trial
That was the end: in Euzkadi the party maintained a certain prestige because it was the "historic" party which remained at the origin of the ephemeral Basque republic.
If Basque were reinstated as the national idiom of Euzkadi, it would carry with it, through its own structures, all the richness of the past and a specific way of thinking and feeling that would open itself fully to the present and the future.
Official culture in Euzkadi today is universalist in that it wants to make of the Basque a universal man, devoid of all national idiosyncrasy, an abstract citizen in every way similar to a Spaniard, except that he is overexploited and does not know it.

SignOnSanDiego.com > News > Mexico -- Mexican workers reopen shuttered Continental tire plant as cooperative
MEXICO CITY – Workers reopened an Euzkadi-brand tire factory in the western state of Jalisco as a cooperative Monday, more than three years after the plant was shuttered due to labor problems.
About 360 workers accepted severance packages, but more than 600 other Euzkadi workers had picketed the plant and filed lawsuits since the 2001 closure, demanding severance and other payments.
However, the Mexican government encouraged a group of Mexican private investors to help reopen the plant, and the former owners – German tire-maker Continental AG – signed over part of the installations to settle claims, a Labor Department spokesman said.

 Euzkadi
After the bloodbath that was the Spanish Civil War and the utter defeat of all opposition forces to his takeover in 1939, Generalisimo Francisco Franco kept his hobnail boot planted firmly in the neck of this renascent bloom of Basque independence until his death in 1975.
This climate of repression spurred a small group of Basque university students in Bilbao to form a revolutionary cadre known as Euzkadi ta Askatasuna (Basque Homeland and Freedom).
These institutions were originally intended to correspond to the three historical regions of Spain that had enjoyed some sort of autonomy before the Civil War: Catalonia, Galicia, and Euzkadi (the Spanish Basque provinces).
