The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland is the Lutheran national church of Finland (The Finnish Orthodox Church is also recognized as a state church).
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland is a successor to the Church of Sweden of which it was a part until 1809, when the Grand Duchy of Finland became a part of the Russian Empire.
Because the church has the position as a state church it is able to collect membership fees in the form of taxes.

According to the ELCF Church Information Center, the ethical evaluation of investment in companies is highlighted as part of the investment portfolio of the whole church and its economically independent parishes.
