JTSA 99 On the eve of an African biblical studies West
African readers, however, are far better placed to interpret the real subject matter of biblical texts—the mythical and the magical—because the questions the Bible addresses are similar to the questions ordinary Africans ask in their own African contexts.
We should also remember that ordinary African interpreters of the Bible are not as transfixed and fixated by the text as their textually trained pastors and theologians; as Wimbush has indicated, their hermeneutics is characterised by “a looseness” towards the biblical text.
The Bible is no longer the agent, but is the object of the actions of (African) others.

Adam and Eve: Real or Imaginary
If you believe the Bible you must recognize that Adam and Eve were the first human beings and that they gave birth to the first human babies simply because the Bible clearly and emphatically teaches it.
The reason that it is so important to believe that Adam and Eve were the first parents is that the Bible clearly and emphatically teaches it.
Therefore, anyone who cannot believe that Adam and Eve were the first human beings and that they gave birth to the first human babies absolutely denies parts of the Bible.

Questions and Answers from the Bible (Part C)
When Eve was later created (Genesis 2:21-22), the Bible makes it clear that she came out of Adam, because Adam had to be the "Federal Head" of the human race, and everybody, including Eve, would now come from that line of Adam.
The Bible makes it so clear that if you're a child of God and you begin to waver in your walk, He will begin to discipline you.
Remember, as we've gone through our study from Genesis 1:26, when Adam and Eve were created through the time when they ate of the forbidden fruit, we have tried to emphasize the fact that first we must understand that Adam, as he was first created, actually contained the woman we now know as Eve.

 The Bible and Christian Heresies
Tatian reinterpreted the story of Adam and Eve and Christian documents such as 1 Corinthians 7:3-6 to support the idea that humans must abandon sexual intercourse in order to regain the Spirit of God that had been lost because of Adam and Eve's fraility.
A number of Christian beliefs were declared heresy in the early centuries of the church.
The Donatist schism began around 311 when a Caecilian, a man who opposed the cult of the martyrs, was irregularly elected bishop of Carthage, after the equally disliked (by the Donatists) Mensurius died.

Computing the years and the events that took place according to the Sages, we discover that indeed it was the end of the sixth year, and the eve of the sabbatical year; now according to Ibn Ezra, the remission of debts takes place at the beginning of the sabbatical year.
Thus we conclude that the twentieth year, in which Nehemiah returned to Israel and in which the people cried out against exploitation and usury, was the sixth year of the cycle, on the eve of the sabbatical year.

 A shrinking date for ‘Eve
Evolutionists, aware of the way in which the mitochondrial Eve discovery could be seen to have vindicated the Bible, have long countered by saying that their ‘Eve’ lived far too long ago to be the biblical Eve.
The mitochondrial Eve findings were, in the first instance, in line with biblically-based expectations; while not proving the biblical Eve, they were consistent with her reality, and were not predicted by evolutionary theory.
Evolutionists have guessed at when their mitochondrial Eve lived via the idea of the ‘molecular clock’—i.e., that there is a more or less fixed rate of mutational substitutions per year in any population.

Johnson pointed to the creation story in the Bible in relating Eve's self-doubt to the struggles of many other women in identifying healthy self-images.
In the Garden of Eden, Johnson likened Eve's temptation to outside, worldly distractions that can often influence a person in assessing their own self-worth.
Johnson's own unconventional, yet ambitious life-story provided inspiration to the group as she moved from her family in Los Angeles to start a new and strikingly different life as a 38 year-old undergraduate student at Notre Dame.

 Bible Misprints
One of the most famous Bibles, containing an unusual rendering, is called the “Breeches Bible.” In 1560 the Geneva Bible said, in Genesis 3:7, that Adam and Eve made for themselves ‘breeches” out of fig leaves.
The “Camels Bible” of 1823 took that nickname from a misprint in Genesis 24:61 which reads, “And Rebekah arose, and her camels” instead of “her damsels.” This mistake is easily understandable when you realize that the word “camels” also is found in the same verse.
A Bible printed in Oxford, England in 1792 has been dubbed the “Denial Bible.” The very unusual substitution of the name “Philip” is made in place of “Peter” as the disciple who denied Jesus in Luke 22:34.

Mormonism 201: Chapter 5 The Fall
As a result of all of this, the Bible clearly indicates that Adam and Eve would have been able to procreate prior to the Fall, not that it was impossible until after they had disobeyed God.
Graham continues, "If Adam and Eve had remained obedient, they would have made God a liar, since without the fall, there would be no need for Jesus Christ to be slain before the fall ever took place."22 This statement is confusing.
Graham comments on Tatian, saying: "Furthermore, the connection between the transgression and sexual knowledge is attested by Tatian, an early Christian apologist."39 However, Tatian took a very low view of sexual relations overall, seeing virginity and celibacy as more pleasing to God.

Adam and Eve - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
According to the Bible, Adam finally died at the age of 930 years, the traditional Jewish view being that he and Eve are currently buried in the Cave of Machpelah, in Hebron.
Because Eve had tempted Adam to eat of the fatal fruit, some early Fathers of the Church held her and all subsequent women to be the first sinners, and especially responsible for the Fall.
The Apocalypse of Adam suggests that Adam and Eve were originally conjoined in a single androgynous being both male and female and greater than the eternal angels and higher than Samael, the God of the Aeon and Powers that had created them.

For the Bible says that Adam and Eve were expelled from the garden and; Genesis 5: verse 5 reads: "And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died." But, as I understand the Bible, there is yet another contradiction to Genesis 2: verse 16-17.
The very fact of this debate, or any debate about the Bible, is irrefutable proof that the Bible cannot be "the word of God." It is often claimed by theologians that the original scriptures were perfect, but that the Bible has lost is perfection through copy errors and by being translated through several languages.
Wisdom is aware of the Bible, and of all the other God books, and is aware of the religions built upon those books and those Gods; and yet wisdom and reason continue to seek God, or even a trace of God.
