Even in Blackouts are notoriously hard to define?you will hear their influences, marvel at their attitude and stage presence?but strangely they are carving out their own place in the musical world.
Even in Blackouts wished to release something unique; Knock Knock Records with the flexibility afforded by their position in the world of the niche pop/punk underground, had the drive and commitment to make this record a reality.
Even in Blackouts have grown into their own form which is defined by the sum of its performers; its ethos is in John, Lizzie, Philip, Gub and Bice; and their commitment to crafting music that challenging, familiar and engaging.

The Music Box: Even in Blackouts - Myths & Imaginary Magicians (Album Review)
The creative force behind Even in Blackouts is John "Jughead" Pierson, who was formerly the lead guitarist of the now-defunct Screeching Weasel, the band that brought punk to the suburbs before Green Day made millions with the same formula.
Even in Blackouts' debut disc is Myths and Imaginary Magicians — a title that is decidedly more apropos for a Jethro Tull disc — and it’s an enjoyable 12-pack (13 with the hidden track) of accessible acoustic rock, free of the clutter of blazing electric guitars.
Singer Lizzie Eldredge is Even in Blackout’s centerpiece, and she carries the tunes with a voice somewhere between Liz Phair and Avril Lavigne — a dynamic style with a touch of sneer and ’tude.

John: It is a reference to the fact that the band can play even in flouts.
And since we often play small venues or basements we actually have experienced flouts and had to finish the set full on acoustic.

The Bright Side of Blackouts by Ofer Zur, Ph.D.
However, the most traumatic effects of the flouts apparently were on the millions of tax paying and law abiding citizens who lost their ability to visit E-bay, exchange e-mails or, heaven forbid, buy or trade on-line for a whole hour or two.
The second reason I like the flouts is that they may open for scrutiny the unexamined sense of entitlement of the Western World, and of California in particular.
We are not only entitled to freedom, happiness and the right to bear arms, but also to bigger, faster and taller SUV's regardless of their contribution to air pollution and global warming, depletion of energy sources, or the extensive damage they inflict in collisions.

Thus was born Even in Blackouts, Jughead’s self-described acoustic punk rock group.
Even in Blackouts owe much to the Southern California and East Bay scene, as its music is pop punk along the lines of Green Day and, of course, Screeching Weasel.
Even in Blackouts could easily come off as a gimmick band, but its talent propels it beyond that.

For this show, Even in Blackouts was playing second, and my friends and I had to leave right away because I was throwing a holiday dance party right afterwards.
Even in Blackouts played wonderfully, though, and it was interesting to see how many very visible Screeching Weasel fans were there (the weasel painted on the leather jacket was the standard sign), despite the fact that the band is fundamentally very different.
There's a very emotional quality to the band, even though they are not so emo that it hurts, and most of all, the music seems to be fun and, at the heart, quite good-spirited.

It was so big experts were saying that some of the solar flares that erupted were the third biggest ever and even threatened flouts.
Now scientists are saying that the solar flare on November 4th of last year, "was more than twice as big as the previous record flare." So big that sensors on satellites were getting over-loaded, like if you were to weigh an elephant on a bathroom scale.
As it turns out, even though The Thurya satellites are geostationary (not geosynchronous) they do move, "..new communications satellites may be placed in a true geostationary orbit initially, but there are several forces which act to alter their orbits over time," writes a Dr. T.S. Kelso.

 Alcohol-induced blackouts
In support of this possibility, a recent study by Hartzler and Fromme (2003) suggests that individuals with a history of flouts are more vulnerable to the effects of alcohol on memory than those without a history of flouts.
A second interpretation is that subjects in the flout group performed more poorly during testing as a result of drinking enough to experience alcohol-induced memory impairments in the past.
Thus, in my opinion, the most logical explanation is that subjects in the flout group were always more susceptible to alcohol-induced memory impairments, which is at least part of the reason they were members of the flout group to begin with.

 Punk goes acoustic
There's a moment in every show by Even In Blackouts when the group unplugs its instruments, pushes the vocal mikes aside and performs completely acoustically, briefly turning the harshest rock-club environment into a quiet living-room hootenanny.
Pierson initially thought the band would only perform live--the name came from the acoustic nature of the project, since it would be able to play "even in flouts," sans electricity--but as the sound came together, he felt compelled to capture it on tape.
With Even In Blackouts, the many sides of Pierson at long last come together under his own name.
