Everett M. Rogers, a stalwart in the communication discipline best known for his “Diffusion of Innovations”; theory, most recently served as Distinguished Professor at the University of New Mexico’s Communication and Journalism Department.
A former president of the International Communication Association, Rogers previously served as the Janet M. Peck Professor of International Communication at Stanford University and the Walter H. Annenberg Professor at the University of Southern California.
Rogers was known internationally for research he conducted in many countries, including the United States, Colombia, India, Korea, Brazil, Nigeria and Tanzania.

Everett M. Rogers (1931 in Carroll, Iowa - Albuquerque, New Mexico, 21 October 2004), communications scholar, pioneer of diffusion of innovations theory, writer, and teacher.
Rogers was also able to relate his communications research to practical health problems, including hygiene, family planning, cancer prevention, and drunk driving.
Rogers suffered from kidney disease and retired from the University of New Mexico in the summer of 2004.

Weber's ideas led Rogers (1969) to conclude that peasants all over the world have similar cultural values (the culture of peasants), and these values were responsible for the poverty of peasant.
Rogers' "subculture of peasants" is a good example of the concept of "dualism" in the epistemology of social sciences.

 Sabido Earns Everett M. Rogers Award
Miguel Sabido, a pioneer in the field of entertainment-education, is the 2006 recipient of the Everett M. Rogers Award for Achievement in Entertainment-Education.
Hosted by the Norman Lear Center at the USC Annenberg School for Communication, the annual Rogers Award is given in memory of Everett M. Rogers, a former associate dean and the Walter H. Annenberg Professor of Communication at the USC Annenberg School.
“Everett Rogers was an exceptional scholar and teacher who shared Walter Annenberg’s vision that communication be used as a tool for public good,” said Geoffrey Cowan, dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication.
