True enough, the heaven and hell of everyday language are external realms - though don't ask me where - and they are attained after death; but the heaven and hell of Dhamma language are to be found in the mind and may occur at any time, depending on one's mental make-up.
This is the lower heaven, the heaven of sensuality.
In the everyday language of people who have not seen or penetrated to the truth, emptiness means simply the absence of any content whatsoever, a physical void, a vacuum, a useless nothingness.

 heaven
There needs to be sky and fields and gardens and trees and birds and animals and fruits and vegetables and trails and hills and valleys and stars and sun and rain and rivers and kids and pets and friends and partners and something to drink and tobacco and even some other weeds to smoke.
If Heaven is only a spiritual place then the golden streets and all the rest of the claims must be discarded along with a physical body.
If you were bound up in Heaven for a long time, it is only natural you would kick up your heels and try to feel good and have a good time if you had a chance to get to earth.

I was excited by Hybrid Heaven's release, because in the four years I have owned a Nintendo 64 it is the second RPG to come out for the system (Quest 64 being the other one).
Hybrid Heaven really does have everything a good N64 game should have: A very interesting storyline which unfolds as you go on, good graphics for the N64, plus interesting cut-scenes.

Literature Network Forums - Images of Heaven and Hell
Heaven will be like Wilton Park, a beautiful stately home in England where ex Nazis were taken after the war for classes in 'thinking for themselves', but with European art movies and a lot of sex.
To me, both heaven and hell would persist simultaneously and in the same head-space of a person subjected to his/her own self; one would objectively perceive everything regarding his/herself, all actions committed, desires, thoughts, fears, faculties, perceptions, memories.
Heaven for me would not be mansions, streets of gold, harps, wings, etc. A simple cessation of my earthly trouble for a life of eternal peace in a small cabin in the mountains would do fine.

"Are You in Heaven or Hell?"
To see whether you are currently living in heaven or hell, look around your life.
Rather than living this life trying to earn your way to heaven in the next, begin today and every day grounded in the assumption that not only are you are already worthy and deserving of heaven -- but you are already there.
When you decide that you are not worthy of heaven, by default you will experience hell, and thus so will be color of your life.

Who Gets To Go To Heaven?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
The people who get to go to heaven are the ones who “get right with God” by beginning a relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ.
To become a Christian and go to heaven (enter the kingdom of God) you have to be “born of water and the Spirit.” This is different.
Now that you realize why these other ways to go to heaven will not work, you need to recheck the information attached to the “get right with God” link.

Revelation 14:6-7 tells us the message of the everlasting gospel--"Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and WORSHIP HIM that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters." There is only one way to do this--through the blood of Jesus Christ.
