Country Standard Time: CD Review Ray Price
These 11 songs, originally released by Columbia in 1963, are some of Price's finest, and the lushest honky tonk you'll ever hear.
"No One But You" is nothing less than the Ray Price of old.
In the hands of Price and arranger David Campbell (father of pop star Beck) the song becomes Price's version of one of Sinatra's classic backward glances, such as "It Was a Very Good Year" or "My Way." Price reportedly wasn't familiar with the song before recording it, though one would never know it by listening.

Ray Parker Jr. - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Parker was accused of plagiarising the melody from Huey Lewis and the News song "I Want A New Drug" for his 1984 #1 hit theme to Ghostbusters, released only six months after Lewis' hit reached #6 in the Billboard Hot 100.
The producers of Ghostbusters had approached Lewis to use his song in the film, but their request was turned down, which led them to ask Parker to write a song similar to "I Want A New Drug" as the theme.
Parker also wrote songs and did session work for Rufus and Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Leon Haywood, Temptations, The Spinners, Rhythm Heritage, and Gladys Knight and the Pips.

And than we thought we had it right and Yogi sang the song and we thought why don’t we ask Ray if he wants to sing this song, at the time he was on the same label as we were and we thought asking doesn’t cost a thing.
So we went to a Ray Wilson concert in Augsburg (Germany), we finished the recordings of the album and gave Ray the rough mixes and especially “Roses”, a few days later Yogi visited Ray at another gig and he agreed to do it for us, he really liked the song.
And we all are looking forward on that gig, also because of the fact that Ray Wilson has been confirmed for that gig.

Ray Wylie Hubbard : Off the Wall - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Ray Wylie Hubbard established himself as a different and braver kind of country artist with his great song "Redneck Mother." Not only did he make fun of rednecks, he made fun of their mothers as well.
He even managed to irritate the normally calm Merle Haggard by appropriating a line from "Okie From Muskogee." Although the latter song had been delivered tongue in cheek to begin with, Hubbard's song can be considered something of an answer to the right-wing sentiments expressed by the narrator of the Haggard ditty.

Ray Wylie Hubbard 2005 Q&A on LoneStarMusic
Almost overnight, it seems like co-writing a song with Ray Wylie Hubbard is the new getting-Willie-to-sing-on-your-record.
Your first album, Ray Wylie Hubbard and The Cowboy Twinkies, came out on Warner/Reprise in 1975, but I understand you were never happy with the production and it was pretty much abandoned at birth by the label.
That song to me has always kind of represented Ray Wylie Hubbard Phase II as much as “Redneck Mother” represents the “honky-tonk fog” phase.

JS Online: Ray Wylie Hubbard 'Takes Five'
Back in the '70s, Jerry Jeff Walker recorded a song by a little-known Dallas writer named Ray Wylie Hubbard.
The song was pretty much written as a joke reaction to Merle Haggard's "Okie From Muskogee," but it laid the foundation for a more than 30-year career that has brought Hubbard recognition as an enduring and respected member of the Texas songwriting community.
The song was "Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother," and it soon became an anthem for unreconstructed, hell-raisin' good ol' boys of all ages.
