Lifshitz is perhaps best remembered for his ten volume Course of Theoretical Physics written jointly with Lev Landau.
Lifshitz continued to work on the book after Lev Landau's death and it was not completed until 1979.
The work includes many of the results of Lifshitz's research over many years including in particular the results of many research papers written jointly with Lev Landau.

Evgeny Mikhailovich Lifshitz (Russian: Евгений Михайлович Лифшиц; February 21, 1915 – October 29, 1985) was a notable Soviet physicist.
The texts are rarely referred to by their titles; more often as Landau and Lifshitz, Landau, or simply Landafshitz.
Iraq Museum International always displays the most recent published revision of the source article, Evgeny Mikhailovich Lifshitz; all previous versions may be viewed here.

After graduating from Kiev Polytechnic Institute in 1934, he began graduate research with Lev D. Landau at the Ukrainian Physico-Technical Institute in Kharkov.
With Alexander S. Kompaneets, Evgeny M. Lifshitz, Isaak Ya.
Together with Landau and Lifshitz, Akhiezer also began to write a course on general physics; the first volume--on mechanics and molecular physics--appeared in 1962.

When calculating the Casimir force the frequency-dependent reflection coefficients of the mirrors have to be taken into account - a problem first tackled by Evgeny Lifshitz in the mid-1950s, and then by Julian Schwinger and many others.
Although the temperature dependence of the Casimir force has not yet been studied in detail experimentally, it must be included in calculations of the force at separations above 1 µm.
Many researchers have tackled this problem for perfectly reflecting mirrors, including Lifshitz and Schwinger back in the 1950s.

The reason for these contradictions is linked to the fact that the Drude dielectric function implies the energy transfer from the electromagnetic field to the phonons of lattice.
We demonstrate that the Lifshitz formula expressed in terms of the surface impedance is free of contradictions and lays a reliable theoretical framework for the investigation of the thermal Casimir force.
Recent precision measurements of the Casimir force by means of the microelectromechanical torsional oscillator are discussed bringing the experimental confirmation to the surface-impedance approach.

In addition, Ben Levich authored a four-volume treatise on Theoretical Physics, which rivals in scope the famous series by Landau and Lifshitz.
Undoubtedly though, of all his publica- tions, the one that had the biggest and most lasting impact is his book Physicochemical Hydrodynamics, which was first published in Russian in 1952 and then translates!
Ben Levich leaves two sons, Evgeny and Alexancler, and their families; his wife Tanya passed away in 1983.

Experimental results on Podkletnov's Impulse Gravity Generator
Lombardi, Landau, and Lifshitz, all pointed out that a static magnetic field has a component of angular momentum.
The volume charge density due to [E = B omega r] has a nonvanishing divergence, which is at odds with both general and special relativity, because this shows that 'absolute' rotational motion of a rotating disc relative to an inertial frame can be determined.
