The unique rural village of Ewenny, just south of Bridgend, is nestled on the edge of the Ewenny River with a garden centre and craft shop, but the highlight of the village is Ewenny Priory and Church.
In 1141 the Church of St. Michael became the beginning of the Benedictine Priory of Ewenny granted to the abbey of St. Peter at Gloucester together with the churches of St. Brides Major, St,Michael at Colwinston and the manor at Lampha.
Close to Ewenny Priory is an area of land known as White Lady’s meadow and White Lady’s Lane.
The river Ogmore is generally conisdered to start near the Bwlch mountain, north of Nantymoel, although it is known as the Ogwr Fawr, with the Ogwr Fach, coming from Gilfach to the east merging near Blackmill.
The River Ewenny was bypassed by much of the early industrialisation only to have a large lowland stretch near Coychurch canalised in order to attract the Ford Motor Company to set up business in the area.
The River Ewenny was the exception which had supported and continues to supports a Grayling fishery which is very unusual in Wales.
The Ewenny attack however took full advantage of the prevailing weather conditions, and after a short break for a rain interuption soon had the Wanderers in trouble again and reduce the final total to 118.

Invacare Ltd. was fined a total of £8,500 and were also ordered to pay £832 in costs to Environment Agency Wales who brought the prosecution.
The Court heard that on the 1 September 2003 an Agency Environment Officer traced a rainbow sheen on the River Ewenny to Invacare Ltd. On investigation at the factory the company was found to have experienced a spill from a fuel tank earlier that day.
Samples were taken from the fuel tank at the factory, which matched that of the discharge into the River Ewenny.
The extraction of carboniferous limestone at Ewenny Quarry is believed to have commenced in the nineteenth century in association with the development of the Vale of Glamorgan Railway from Barry to Bridgend.
With the subsequent provision of a rail link to the quarry a wider market was developed, including limestone flux for the iron and steel industry continuing until the 1960s.
Ewenny quarry is located on the south side of the village of Ewenny, a dormitory settlement about a mile south of Bridgend in the Vale of Glamorgan.
