Exile - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The use of exile for political purposes can sometimes be useful for the government because it prevents the exilee from organizing in their native land or from becoming a martyr.
Exile represented a severe punishment, particularly for those, like Ovid or Du Fu, exiled to strange or backward regions, cut off from all of the possibilities of life as well as their families and associates.
Exile has been softened, to some extent, in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as exiles have received welcome in other countries and have either created new communities within those countries or, less frequently, returned to their homelands following the demise of the regime that exiled them.

The Exile, overwhelmed with compassion for the lives lost to the ravages of the Mandalorians on the Outer Rim, joined the Republic forces led by Revan, the first Jedi Knight who had defied the Jedi Council in order to meet the Mandalorians in battle.
Later, it is learned that the Exile unknowingly severed himself from the Force in order to save himself from the destructive Force wave that came from the death of all the beings at Malachor V and of the planet itself.
Full details of the Exile's travels in the Outer Rim are unknown, but it is known that Atris had orchestrated his return to known space; in order to attract the growing Sith threat, she leaked news of his return to the galaxy and, predictably, attracted the Sith's attention.

Exile III was also ported to Linux by a third party, although it does not seem to work as well as the Windows version run in WINE.
The first three of these games form a trilogy covering the exploits of the inhabitants of Exile, a vast series of underground caves populated by those banished by the Empire, rulers of the surface world, culminating in their eventually gaining the ability to return to the surface.
Blades of Exile consists of three short "scenarios" set after the main trilogy as well as an editor that allows players to create their own scenarios, which need not be set in the Exile game world at all.

Exile was actually formed all the way back in 1963 in Berea, KY, by singer/guitarist J.P. Pennington, the son of onetime Coon Creek Girl Lily May Ledford.
Their name was shortened to Exile in 1973, at which point the group featured leader/guitarist Pennington, lead singer Jimmy Stokley, keyboardist Buzz Cornelison, bassist Kenny Weir, and drummer Bob Jones.
Helped by this exposure, the new Exile signed with Epic in 1983, and soon notched their first Top 40 hit on the country charts with "High Cost of Leaving." By this time, Cornelison had left the group.
