Exit Planet Dust, although being the weakest Chem's album, does, in some instances, show off some of their great musical talent.
Exit Planet Dust was Tom and Ed's first album as The Chemical Brothers, the patenters of Big Beat.
Drawing from work by the likes of The Dust Brothers (the Chem's previous name, as a sign of respect to the original American Duo), Big Beats was a hybrid of hiphop scratching and vocals, fuzzy guitars, hosts of acid bleeps, shreaking sirens and good ol' British bass.

The Chemical Brothers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Initially they called themselves "The Dust Brothers", after the noted US production duo of the same name, but their burgeoning popularity and the threat of legal action from the originals led them to change their name in 1995.
Early in 1994 however, The Dust Brothers were approached in the club one Sunday by Noel Gallagher, from Oasis, who at the time were becoming one of the most prominent guitar bands in Britain.
Also around this time, the original Dust Brothers threatened legal action over the use of their name, and so Rowlands and Simons had to decide on a new name quickly.

Facing legal action from the American team with the same moniker, Manchester's Dust Brothers — players/producers Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons — became the Chemical Brothers in time for the release of Exit Planet Dust, one of the strongest debut techno albums of the mid-'90s.
Exit Planet Dust begins with the fiery "Leave Home," a euphoric musical concoction that rides a driving fuzz-bassline and drum track and incorporates edgy, distorted guitar and a vocal loop from Blake Baxter's "Brothers Gonna Work It Out." The song combines the power of punk and metal with the cut-up creativity of techno and hip-hop.
Fittingly, "In Dust We Trust" shows off the duo's turntable scratching prowess, while a live-in-clubland version of the Brothers' original nightlife hit, "Song to the Siren," layers screeching voices into a minimal collage of sirens and other urban sounds.
