Exminster is a small settlement surrounded by countryside and wetlands that are rich in wildlife.
The villagers and farmers of Exminster, and Teignbridge District Council, have done so much to help wildlife, and cirl buntings in particular, and all this could have been lost had new development pressure arisen from the Structure Plan.
The news came in the same week as the results of a summer survey revealed that the population of cirl buntings has increased six-fold in 14 years, from 113 pairs to nearly 700, as a result of work by the RSPB, farmers, Defra and English Nature.

 John Bass fined for cutting spires in river Exe
Mr Gidley produced a handbill in which the "spire" beds were offered for sale on the 25th March, 1858, and also the conveyance of the same, showing it had been purchased by Mr Kekewitch for £430.
He stated the property was formerly considered to be in the parish of Exminster.
A mass of evidence was adduced from the oldest inhabitants of Exminster and occupiers of the property showing that it was in the parish of Exminster, and that the right to cut the "spires" was reserved to Mr Kekewitch or his tenants.

The present ski facility is considered to be old and restricted, and difficult to upgrade in line with current Health and Safety guidance.
At present lorries entering this site perform a left-in/left-out only movement at the junction of Trood lane with the A379, which could involve a lengthy detour to perform a 'U' turn at Wobbly Wheel at Kennford.
