Exmoor is mainly a hill farming region, although to the north and east, in Porlock Vale and on the Brendon Hills, arable crops are grown.
Stock needs to be hardy to survive on the exposed moorlands in a wet climate and the local Exmoor Horn sheep and Red Devon cattle, while not as common as they used to be, are still found on many farms.

There are two wild populations of mouflons still in existence: the Asiatic mouflon which is still found in the mountains of Asia Minor and southern Iran and the European mouflon of which the only existing members are on the islands of Sardinia and Corsica.
These two species are closely related with the only difference being the redder coloration and different horn configuration of the Asiatic mouflon.
Some sources even hypothesize that the European mouflon actually developed from the first domestic sheep in European being allowed to become feral and that all sheep are actually descendants of the Asiatic mouflon.

The horn has separated slightly in two places on each napkin ring, but that is not really a detriment in my opinion.
The bottom wooden insert is held in by ting wooden pins that are nailed through the horn.
This powder horn is very unusual in its size at 4 and one half inches high and 5 inches with what appears to be the original wood stopper.
