Exobiology sometimes called Astrobiology attempts to reveal the origin, evolution and distribution of life on Earth and throughout the Universe.
Exobiology is a multidisciplinary research field, combining astronomy, astrophysics, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, geology and specific fields such as paleobiology, organic chemistry, geomicrobiology, ecogenomics and others.
The IWF is involved in two projects related to exobiology, where the first exobiology project studies together with colleagues from the Semmelweis University in Budapest the effects on extraterrestrial radiation on molecules which are essential for life.

Exobiology is a discipline that deals with the origin, occurrence and distribution of life in the Universe.
This module provides introductory teaching lessons for classroom coverage of Exobiology and the origin of life that is suitable for use in both general and advanced high school biology courses.
Exobiology, a discipline concerned with the origin of life, has become not only a significant component of several scientific fields, but it is also a subject of considerable popular interest.

Exobiology, strictly speaking, the study of life other than that of earth, is at best a science with (as yet) no object.
Exobiology is now at the same state that "Exogeoplogy" was before high-res orbiters, landers, and rovers.
But exobiology is not a science and there is nothing there to study.

Prior to my lecture on exobiology, we should review some biological concepts that are very important for the comprehension of the exobiology since the last century.
Exobiology is a term derived from three Greek roots Έξω= extension; external, outside; Βίος = life and Λόγος = science, treatise, discourse.
is not a synonym of Exobiology because it is an uncertain term that refers to the study of bizarre beings distinct to humans; besides, if we consider the source of the word, Xenobiology is not a scientific notion because it means “biology of the foreigners”.

Bioastronomy, astrobiology, exobiology… Whatever you call it, it’s all the same—the study of the origins of life and in particular its evolution, its distribution across Earth and the universe, and the structures and processes involved.
Exobiology investigates not just the origins and specific characteristics of living molecular structures but also their huge biological diversity and ability to survive in extreme conditions.
Identifying the basic requirements for life in the universe necessitates scientific input from a range of complementary fields, such as astrophysics, geology, physics, chemistry and biology.

 SIGNIFICANCE AND STATUS OF EXOBIOLOGY
The significance of the term “exobiology” is in dispute and there are those who declare that the subject has no status.
These arguments may have semantic merit, but “exobiology” has been adopted by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and is now a part of the literature.
The finding of life elsewhere might shed light on the theory that the geometrically possible combinations of elements, as modified by chemical and physical constraints operating under a range of environmental conditions, inevitably produce self-replicating material subject to genetic mutation.

 Half Hollow Hills: EXOBIOLOGY
One of the reasons that scientists first though of exobiology as a real concept is the extremophiles, which live in hot springs and heat vents in the ocean.
However, the more of the universe that is explored, the more evidence there is that exobiology is a very real science with many possibilities.
These are just a few examples of the many areas within exobiology, with answers coming everyday from researchers all over the world.

:: THE ORIGINS OF EXOBIOLOGY ::
Bada is a leader of one of NSCORT's laboratories and is part of a team of biologists and chemists who conduct research at the six NSCORT labs located at Scripps; the University of California, San Diego; the Salk Institute; and The Scripps Research Institute.
Among these researchers are some of the pioneers of exobiology, a discipline defined as the study of the origin, evolution, and distribution of life in the universe.
The term exobiology is only slightly older than the NSCORT program itself, coined in the late 1960s at a time when detection of extraterrestrial life seemed imminent to some individuals.

Astrobiology: The Living Universe - Exobiology Introduction
Exobiology is the study of organisms that originate from outside of Earth.
As yet, there has been no conclusive evidence of extra-terrestrial life, so naturally there cannot be much studying going on.
However, exobiology also encompasses the search for extra-terrestrial life, and the theoretical study of what life outside Earth might be like.

Unfortunately, many of the recommendations of the 1981 and 1990 CPBCE reports, although embraced by the NASA Exobiology Branch, await implementation because of severe funding limitations.
