SLAM! Sports - Baseball - Montreal - Sad and pathetic ending
Some of the worst were the players' strike of 1994, called with the Expos at 74-40, the Rick Monday homer in 1981 to deny the club its sole National League pennant, the purchase of the club by Claude Brochu and later, Jeffrey Loria, the loss of stars from Pedro Martinez to Guerrero.
When the Montreal Expos played the Blue Jays last weekend in Puerto Rico, Mark Potashner was drawn to his television, a moth to a flickering flame.
That past included the Expos, Canada's team for a few years after their inception in 1969 thanks to Jarry Park and a wild cast of uniformed characters that included Ron Hunt, Mack Jones and Coco Laboy.

IMAX Review @ CreatedByGod.com (Created by God)
During Expo '74 in Spokane, Washington, USA, a very large IMAX screen that measured 90 x 65 ft (27.3 x 19.7 m) was featured in the US Pavilion (the largest structure in the expo).
The first permanent IMAX 3D theatre was built in Vancouver, Canada for Expo '86, and is still very much in use, as it is situated at the tip of Canada Place, one of Vancouver and the world's most recognized structures.
William Shaw of IMAX adapted an Australian patent for film transport called the "rolling loop" by adding a compressed-air "puffer" to accelerate the film, and put a cylindrical lens in the projector's "block" for the film to be vacuumed up against during projection (called the "field flattener" because it served to flatten the image field).

Sarsfield, now 74, already had a lengthy resume that included stints as a consultant and coordinator for Canadian pavilions at Expo 67 and 70, a published children's author, a journalist and researcher, a communications consultant for the United Nations and a CBC researcher and board member when she started research for No Crystal Stair.
No Crystal Stair, written by first-time author Mairuth Sarsfield and published in 1997, was one of five novels criticized by a panel of celebrity advocates in what CBC Radio calls a "literary Survivor." The series was to be aired the week of Feb. 21 to 25.
Sarsfield's heroes are not so much engaged in perpetual clashes against white Montrealers as they are struggling to achieve dignity, resist temptation and find the strength to move up the economic ladder.

One way to measure changing attitudes toward growth and natural resources in the Pacific Northwest during the 1960s and 1970s is to contrast the international expositions in Spokane in 1974 and Seattle in 1962.
Expo '74 suggested that the region had not moved very far down the road to ecological enlightenment.
It was perhaps audacious of Spokane, a relatively remote and small city of 180,000, to host a world's fair, but the exposition did attract outside interest and money (from the state and federal government and from private firms), cleaned up the riverfront, and rejuvenated downtown.
