  Expo 86
Expo 86, Vancouver, BC, was opened 2 May 1986 by the Prince and Princess of Wales and closed 13 October 1986 after 20 111 578 visits.
Unlike EXPO 67 this was a special category exposition, the largest ever held, with a single theme of transportation and communications.
Expo 86 Corp was established as a nonprofit agency to plan and operate the fair and was headed by Jim PATTISON, chairman of the board and later president.

Expo Line - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Expo Line is named for Expo 86, the world's fair which Vancouver hosted in 1986.
During Expo 86, special shuttle trains ran from a third track at Stadium-Chinatown Station (where there was a connection to the monorail serving the main site of the world's fair) to the Canadian pavilion at Waterfront Station.
The Expo Line travels underground from Waterfront to Stadium Stations, mainly through the Dunsmuir Tunnel, a tunnel previously used by the Canadian Pacific Railway to connect its mainline tracks along Burrard Inlet to its former yard on False Creek.

Expo planners divided the False Creek site into six color zones, a concept which allows visitors to explore the basically linear grounds amid buildings, benches and flamboyant banners all painted or dyed in vibrant Day-Glo hues, splendid when the sun is shining, as it does most of the time during a typical Vancouver summer.
Expo's transportation theme is commemorated in three light-hearted plazas where fanciful and authentic ships, aircraft and land vehicles have become sculptural pieces which play before the eyes like larger-than-life, three-dimensional cartoons.
Saudi Arabia, the only Arab nation represented at Expo 86, presented a thoughtfully balanced mix of modern developments in transportation and communications, the timeless message of Islam and the crafts and lore of a traditional desert environment which, by the end of June, was drawing a steady stream of visitors.
