Amazon.com: Extreme: Music: Extreme   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-04)
Extreme was actually a highly underrated band that encompassed elements of Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Van Halen.
Extreme's debut, however, is not up-to-par with those albums and is just another good, but untimely forgettable pop-metal album.
Extreme has always had the ability to write and compose songs that seem simple, even shallow on the surface, but that have much deeper meanings, and are themed much more seriously upon closer examination.

 Extreme | Biography | MTV
Although guitarist and band mastermind Nuno Bettencourt's style was derived from Eddie Van Halen, his heart is with the progressive hard rock of Queen, as well as Beatlesque pop and touches of lounge jazz.
Extreme's fourth album, 1995's Waiting for the Punchline, suffered from a similar lack of sales.
The following year, Extreme announced they were breaking up, as Bettencourt went on to launch a solo career -- issuing the albums Schizophrenic in 1997, Mourning Widows in 1999, and Furnished Souls for Rent in 2000.

Bio: Although guitarist and band mastermind Nuno Bettencourt's style was derived from Eddie Van Halen, his heart is with the progressive hard rock of Queen, as well as Beatlesque pop and touches of lounge jazz.
Consequently, Extreme's music is never easy to classify; it's not just heavy metal, hard rock, or pop -- their albums cover all of that territory with a sweeping ambition and a social consciousness to match.
Extreme's third album, Extreme III: Three Sides to Every Story, was an over-ambitious follow-up that sold well at first but didn't have the staying power of their previous album.

Classic Cartoon Favorites: Volume 6 - Extreme Music Fun DVD Review
Nearly all of the films in the canon of Disney animated features are marked by music, whether they are clearly character-performed musicals or simply rely on songs to convey emotions, as has been the case in more recent years.
So, it seems rather obvious that music would feature as one of the three themes being called to carry a compilation of vintage Disney shorts in the second wave of the inexpensive Classic Cartoon Favorites DVD line.
Each short on Extreme Music Fun is presented in a roughly "fullscreen" format, with the 1.33:1ish aspect ratio resembling their Academy Ratio theatrical dimensions.

Extreme Music Fun: Walt Disney Classic Cartoon Favorites (Volume VI) (2005)
Extreme Music Fun appears in an aspect ratio of 1.33:1 on this single-sided, single-layered DVD; due to those dimensions, the image has not been enhanced for 16X9 televisions.
Partially due to the presence of those cartoons from the Thirties, the monaural soundtrack of Extreme Music Fun was mediocre.
Music also demonstrated variable levels of harsh and rough tones, but this wasn’t unexpected, and the scores seemed reasonably solid.

Extreme Music are a London-based company who are trying to change the perception of library music.
Their approach is intended to be different in every respect, from the presentation and distribution of their music to their relationships with the composers who produce it.
Since production music is most often used as a background, you might expect that there wouldn't be much use for vocals or complete songs, but this is an area where demand is growing.

As Extreme, the original line-up found themselves on television in 1985 via a video clip for "Mutha (Don't Wanna Go To School Today)", as part of an MTV competition, but it was the arrival of Bettencourt in 1986 and Badger the following year that boosted their career.
The band's music was now characterized by Bettencourt's innovative guitar playing, intelligent lyrics and a diverse style that transcended a variety of musical genres.
The following year, Extreme announced they were breaking up, as Bettencourt went on to launch a solo career — issuing the albums Schizophrenic in 1997, Mourning Widows in 1999, and Furnished Souls for Rent in 2000.

When a band finds it’s groove or appears to have found the perfect blend of melody and catchiness and/or aggressiveness that better suits their style/genre of music, then what usually results is pure magic.
The difficulties arise when you get into the “underground” world of music, when you are surfing in a new musical territory or foreign music to you at least, and you have no known standards to help guide you through it all.
Well, after spending many a nights listening to all genres of music and reading so many music reviews, I’ve come to the realization that there are no standard benchmarks when trying to explain how heavy an album is compared to another album.
