Far right - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Far right, extreme right, ultra-right, radical right, or hard right are terms used to discuss the qualitative or relative position a group or person occupies within a political spectrum.
The terms "far right" and "far left" are often used to say that someone is an "extremist." "Far right" is thus usually a pejorative term used by outsiders rather than a self-label.
The far right has often been associated in various degrees with paleoconservatism, social, cultural and religious conservatism, reactionary monarchism, reactionary nationalism, jingoistic chauvinism, populism, economic protectionism or economic free trade, anti-immigration or racist and xenophobic policies, but the usage varies greatly.

Right-wing politics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In politics, right-wing, the political right or simply the right, are terms that refer to the segment of the political spectrum often associated with any of several strains of conservatism, the religious right, or simply the opposite of left-wing politics.
Some consider the political Right to include those forms of liberalism that emphasize the free market more than egalitarianism in wealth, but many free-market advocates, including most libertarians, share certain political ideologies with the left-wing and conceive of a two-dimensional political spectrum that they say more accurately portrays their political position.
A more obscure strand of right wing thought, often associated with the original right wing from the times of monarchy, supports the preservation of wealth and power in the hands that have traditionally held them, social stability, and national solidarity and ambition.

THE FRENCH AND EUROPEAN EXTREME RIGHT AND GLOBALIZATION
Continuing friction on the extreme right in the European Parliament led Schönhuber to conclude that Le Pen's idea of uniting the right on the basis of nationalism and the irreducible nature of the nation-state would be very difficult to achieve.
Moreover, the highly nationalistic nature of the extreme right, its devotion to the nation-state and its opposition to international or European institutions compose substantial obstacles to the establishment of a Euro-right.
However, the extreme right has been trying to establish some basis of cooperation since the 1930s, and one should not, therefore, rule out the possibility that the Euro-right might agree on a common minimum program of opposition to globalization and on a workable formula for creating an international of the far right.

Newsvine - Extreme right wing rise to power in Denmark
No wonder the European Council and Human Rights Watch have begun a thorough investigation of Denmark, even while the political parties are beginning their internal wrestle for power after the new and confounding transformation during the last three weeks of “ceasefire” allowing the government to engage in the much neglected diplomatic work.
The Danes themselves, being orderly and mild mannered, are completely unable to handle an ideology that leads people to brag about their racism, to consider hate speech a national duty and opponents “traitors”, who are to be dealt with after the revolution.
And there are very few extreme left supporters in Denmark or any other country where this extreme right movement has gained ground.

All these parties have been extremely careful to state their respect for the law, which is, of course, nothing new: similar policies were followed in the 1930s by all Western Fascist parties, as it was by the Nazi Party under the Weimar Republic.
However, some commentators noted the extreme Right's electoral weakness in 1981 and then denied that there was anything to be taken seriously in the demonstrations of anti-Jewish hostility that proliferated at the end of the 1970s.

INSIGHT: Will the Extreme Right Succeed?
Turning the War on Terror into a War on Islam
The Extreme Right draws its ranks from the fringes of the Christian Right and the neoconservatives, particularly those who see in the indigenization of Islam and the presence of authentic Muslim voices in the United States a direct threat to their ability to manipulate the public and promote their narrow religious and foreign policy agenda.
The Extreme Right has already succeeded in persuading the Bush administration to appoint a war monger to the United State Institute of Peace (USIP), and it took a great effort to make the divisive agenda of Pipes clear to the USIP board, leading to his demise as a USIP director.
The Extreme Right has repeatedly exaggerated the size of Muslim extremists, and obscured their identity and the political conditions leading to their emergence, in an effort to link them to the larger Muslim communities and organizations.

 Stopping the Extreme Far Right
Unless this is halted, the BNP are on course for a qualitative breakthrough on to the national political stage – of the kind already seen in other countries across Europe.
The reasons for the BNP’s growth parallel the extreme right in national politics across Europe: falling voter participation due to political disillusionment, and rising racism.
The experience from Europe provides a crucial lesson: it is infinitely harder to reverse a breakthrough by the far right after it has occurred, than it is to stop it occurring in the first place.

In Radicals in Robes: Why Extreme Right-Wing Courts Are Wrong for America, he outlines four approaches that have long dominated constitutional debate--perfectionism, majoritarianism, minimalism, and fundamentalism--and argues for minimalism and against fundamentalism (perfectionism and majoritarianism are given less attention since they have largely fallen out of favor in recent decades).
Indeed, it appears that fundamentalists are "perfectionists" of the right: activist judges who are result-oriented under the guise of constitutional interpretation.
For instance, it is the lone amendment that is directed at providing the individual states a right against the federal government, namely, the right to form state militias.

Rod Dreher on Pim Fortuyn on National Review Online
Placing Fortuyn on the "far right" or "extreme right" was a ridiculous smear, entirely typical of the Left (one is reminded of the abuse Rudolph Giuliani, another common-sense reformist, routinely endured from the Left in New York City during all but the last few months of his mayoralty).
Its twin policies of generous immigration and tolerance of extreme multiculturalism are dividing the country.
Of course, what accounted for Fortuyn's "extreme right" reputation was not his tax or agricultural policies, but his views on immigration and acculturation, which were easily caricatured by malicious opponents.

Left and Right were terms coined in the 1790's and had to do with the location where certain political groups were seated at the French Legislative Assembly, royalists on the right and anti-royalists on the left.
