Eye of Sauron - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Eye of Sauron is part of the fictional Middle-earth, a literary universe by J.
Sauron's Orcs use the sign of the Eye when they roam the Earth, because he does not "permit [his name] to be spelt or spoken" (according to Aragorn; a notable exception was the Mouth of Sauron).
The Eye is referred to as having the capability to "see all", although that must be meant as a term of fear and not literally; Sauron is not aware of all events that occur in Middle-earth, because he can only observe a single location at a time, rather like a lighthouse scanning the seas.

Sauron (IPA: /'sɑʊɻɒn/, Quenya: "Abhorred") is the eponymous title character and main antagonist of The Lord of the Rings by J.
Sauron was soon subverted by the Dark Lord Melkor (later known as Morgoth), an evil Vala, and thereafter served Morgoth faithfully, even in later days after Morgoth was defeated and cast outside the confines of the world.
Sauron responded with military force, initiating the War of the Elves and Sauron and conquering much of the land west of Anduin.

The Eye of Sauron, as I see, is a cluster of pulsating, fiery energy deep inside his mind (literally, it's what we call the Third Eye), which is he able to send at will far and away.
i.e what we see is his eye or eyes which are slits of flame from his pysical form magnified by the curvature of the palantir into a massive fiery eye which is how the mind or spirit on the astral or whatever plain thus visualises Sauron.
Sauron in Dol Guldur was unable either to locate Gollum wearing the Ring in his native village (2463-2470), or to locate Bilbo wearing the Ring in Mirkwood (2941).

Summary (Sep 09, 2004): The Cat's Eye Nebula was the first planetary nebula ever to be discovered but its complex gas layers give knots and jets like the Lord of the Ring's famous floating eye of Sauron.
Although the rings may be the key to explaining the final agonized 'gasp' of the dying central star, the mystery behind the Cat's Eye nebula's nested Russian doll structure remains largely unsolved.
Although the Cat's Eye Nebula was the first planetary nebula ever to be discovered, it is one of the most complex planetary nebulae ever seen in space.
