This borough of Eythorne takes within its bounds lower Eythorne-street, comprehending the church, Elmton farm, and Eythorne court manor and lands, the whole being within the hundred last mentioned; at the court of which a borsholder is appointed for it.
EYTHORNE lies in a hilly uninclosed country, the soil of which is chalk, much covered with flints, and pretty barren for the most part of it.
Another hamlet, called Upper Eythorne street, comprehends the forstal, among the houses on it is one, which once belonged to a tolerable large farm, called Park End, now belonging to the earl of Guildford, the greatest part of which has been long since taken into Waldershare park.

When the railway was planned the operational hub of the railway was to be at Eythorne, where the branches from Tilmanstone, Guilford and Deal would have met the mainline from Shepherdswell to Sandwich Haven.
They show that the route followed closely the south side of the Eythorne road up to the summit were it veered south, crossed the Waldershare road at a crossroads, and passed on to other land.
The intended permanent route lay on the north side of the Eythorne road going up and over the ridge where a shallow 16 ft cutting was planned before crossing the road on the level and falling to Eythorne junction and sidings.

Under the watchfull eye and ear of a 'Crompton' expert drafted in for the occasion, 063 was put through some tests, having not turned a wheel or even started since 1998.
As neither 063 or the 2EPB have had much chance to stretch their legs, they were taken towards Tilmanstone (Wigmore Lane buffer-stop) to make further tests and checks to round off a fantastic day for the S.E.L.G..
Having reached Eythorne with 2EPB 5759, 33063 will push the 14.20 return trip back to Shepherdswell (there is no run-round facility).
