Globocnik was Hohere SS-und Polizeiführer for the Adriatic Coastland Region, based in Trieste, and Wirth in the southern Istrian port of Pula organizing an office of the Kriminalpolizei.

 Hitler's Birthday in 1942
As we celebrate today the birthday of our Führer and bow before the greatness of this man, we have both the right and duty as people who think politically — beyond all cheap outward enthusiasm — to ask what is behind this greatness.
The Führer's birthday is a holiday of the German people that is already deeply rooted in the consciousness of the whole people.
The address of the party leader is at the center of the ceremony, which speaks to the battle between two worlds, to the greatness of the age, and to the coming final victory.

Incidentally, the village of Oradour was back in partisan hands for the two days following the incidents and a number of "embellishments" were thought to have been made during this period.
In December 1953 the Vice-chairman of the French communist party openly admitted that Oradour-sur-Glane was used as a regional headquarters and armory for a communist partisan band during the war.
While Oradour's fate was a tragic incident of war, the blame for what happened must be shared by all sides-it was by no means an exclusive German "war crime," there is enough evidence to demonstrate that by now!
