Although her original assumption was that much disambiguation could be ac complished based on paragraph topic, she found that half of the disambiguation was actually accomplished using fixed phrase and syntactic information, while the other half was accomplished using commonsense reasoning.
Disambiguation was accomplished by selecting the sense of the target word whose signature con tained the greatest number of overlaps with the signatures of neighboring words in its context.
The notion of disambiguating senses based on domain is implicit in various AI based approaches, such as Schank\rquote s script approach to natural language processing (Schank and Abelson, 1977), which matched words to senses based on the context or \'93script\'94 activated by the general topic of the discourse.

Frank Williams - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After a brief career as a driver and mechanic, funded by his work as a traveling grocery salesman, Williams founded Frank Williams Racing Cars in 1966; he ran drivers Piers Courage, Richard Burton, Tetsu Ikuzawa and Tony Trimmer for several years in Formula Two and Formula Three.
In 1970 Williams undertook a brief partnership with Alessandro de Tomaso; after the death of Courage at the Dutch Grand Prix, his relationship with de Tomaso was over by the end of the year.
In 1971 he raced Henri Pescarolo in a chassis he had purchased from March Engineering; 1972 saw the first F1 car built by the Williams works, the Politoys FX3 designed by Len Bailey, but Pescarolo crashed and destroyed it at its first race.

Formula One, abbreviated to F1 and also known as Grand Prix racing, is the highest class of single-seat open-wheel formula auto racing.
Six of the original seven races took place in Europe; the only non-European race in 1950 was the Indianapolis 500, which, due to lack of participation by F1 teams, was later replaced by the United States Grand Prix.
The future of the United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis is now in serious doubt after the 2005 race turned into a farce that saw only six of the planned 20 cars take the green flag, due to concerns about tire safety and political wrangling between constructors and the FIA.

Vowel - Facts, Information, and Encyclopedia Reference article
Open vowels have high F1 frequences while close vowels have low F1 frequencies, as can be seen at right: The [i] and [u] have similar low first formants, whereas [ɑ] has a higher formant.
However, in open vowels the high F1 frequency forces a rise in the F2 frequency as well, so a better measure of frontness is the difference between the first and second formants.
For this reason, vowels are usually plotted as F1 vs. F2 – F1.

 Beat
In physics and sound, a beat is the oscillation between zero intensity and full intensity that occurs when two frequencies (which are not harmonically related) are added together, caused by alternating constructive and destructive interference of the pressure waves.
Beating is heard as a pulsation in loudness of two nearby frequencies, f1 and f2, at the rate of f1 - f2.
Thus f = 0 when the two waves are in unison and as the difference between f1 and f2 increases, the speed increases until beyond a certain proximity beating becomes undetectable and a roughness is heard instead, after which the two pitches are perceived as separate.
