Formula One History - After Tamburello
Once again new technical regulations were imposed to slow the cars and improve driver safety, but even with the first driver fatalities in a dozen years, the show went on, as it always has.
After focusing on their active components for years, F1 designers were hard pressed to meet the new specifications, and most of the paddock was not delivered in time for much winter testing before the season's first race at Interlagos in Brazil.
Senna was motionless in the car, finally being pulled from the wreckage, given first aid and taken away in a helicopter.

F1 World Grand Prix for PC Review - PC F1 World Grand Prix Review
F1 cars have had seven gears for a number of years, and an oversight such as this one is inexcusable for a game that claims to have "faithful replicas" of the real-life racecars.
Fortunately, the cars themselves are shiny and authentically detailed, and the game supports a number of different camera views, including an interesting first-person perspective that simulates how an F1 driver sees through his helmet.
Unfortunately, although the computer-controlled cars in F1 World Grand Prix are generally competent, your teammates seem completely autonomous; they might as well be racing for your competition because they can't be counted on to guard your tail or block for you, maneuvers that are common practice among teammates in the F1 sport.

Compaq F1 Racing - No comparing F1 and CART
Both cars also have the engine placed behind the cockpit, have two wheel drive and steering, use electronic measurement and data telemetry to monitor and control car performance, employ similar aerodynamic elements to generate downforce, such as front and rear wings, neither use driver adjustable or movable surfaces, and both use similar suspension geometries.
F1 regulations allow engines to have a larger 3.0L capacity with a configuration of 10 cylinders and a maximum of five valves per cylinder but ban all types of supercharging and turbocharging and limit fuel to commercial low-lead gasoline.
As for the cars themselves, ground-effect aerodynamics, for example, which was first developed by the Lotus-Ford F1 team in the 1970s for the classic JPS Mk III and Mk IV cars, were banned by the FIA in 1982, but are still used in a modified way in CART.

Wired News: Breeding Race Cars to Win
F1 cars, which can hit speeds of 150 mph on a curvy track, are open-cockpit, single-seat vehicles.
The cars that performed especially well were treated as though they had their own genetic code and were then bred by the computer to produce the next generation, which combined the best features of both parent cars.
The most evolved car was then tested in a race against a computer-generated default car, two cars tuned by a human racing expert, and a car designed by a research team member.

 cars
Patrick Head's next idea was to build a car with the biggest possible ground-effect tunnels; he was convinced that the best aerodynamic way to do this was to build a car with conventional front wheels and four small rears, with an ultra-short tub and massive sidepods.
However, in the turmoil surrounding F1 in the early 80s, FISA banned six-wheelers (ostensibly to keep F1 closer to 'conventional' road cars) along with ground-effects, and the Williams six-wheeler remained a fascinating white elephant.
Car changes are authorised once again until the green light indicating the start of the formation lap is shown.

F1 drivers are not allowed to overtake the car, and each other, as long as it is on track.
The car is usually a very, very fast streetcar and serves to slow down the pace.

The Truth About Cars | The Mother of All F1 Cars
Conceptually, the 250F was kin to the cars that had been raced since the turn of the century: front engine, rear-wheel drive with narrow tires and a basic (leaf) suspension.
Because of the high polar moment of inertia inherent in a car with a significant portion of its weight located near its ends, maintaining momentum was the key to speed, rather than stopping and accelerating.
The Cooper can be called the first F1 car of the modern sort – all of the designs that have followed have been extensions of the lowly Cooper F3.

As its title implies, F1 2001 is based on the current season of Formula One racing, which concluded several weeks ago, and it lets you race on any of the 17 circuits as any of the 11 teams' 22 drivers, including veteran Michael Schumacher and rookie Juan Pablo Montoya.
F1 2001 also has several split-screen modes that let you race against another friend, including a tag team mode and a surprisingly fun mode called last man standing, wherein the last-place car is eliminated after each lap in a race.
F1 2001 also has two overarching handling modes--normal and simulation--for those who don't want to fiddle with the finer aspects of the game's adjustable driving model.

The car features a 6.1-litre 60° V12 BMW V12 engine and it was conceived as an exercise in creating what its designers hoped would be considered the ultimate road car.
The car remains as one of the most popular modern supercars, and is quickly securing a spot among the most famous cars ever made.
The car's safety levels were first proved when during a testing in Namibia in April 1993, a test driver wearing just shorts and t-shirt hit a rock and rolled the first prototype car several times.

A History of Ferrari in Formula One
There are two significant things about these F1 models: first, the collection is a virtually complete set of every important Ferrari F1 car since the beginning of world championship racing in 1950.
All the great champions are here plus many other cars that, while not world-beaters, represent technological innovations or other important aspects of the history of Ferrari and F1 twin stories closely intertwined, since Ferrari is the only team to have contested each season since the inception of the world championship.
For 1952,the race organizers and sporting authorities realized that there would not actually be much competition in the F1 category so it was decided to run the championship for Formula 2 cars until the advent of a new set of regulations in 1954.

The McLaren team experimented with regenerative power system technology in the late 1990s, but such devices were then banned by the FIA.

Mosley referred in his speech to 'energy storage devices' capturing energy otherwise lost under braking and said: 'Every car can be fitted with equipment that must weigh no more than 20 kilos, will store energy when the car brakes and enable the energy to be used when the car accelerates again...
The braking period for an F1 car is very short, so it would probably take a full lap to store enough energy for this overtaking manoeuvre,' although the 60bhp could be available for around nine seconds each time on a lap-by-lap basis.
Mosley said: 'This is quite clearly something that is, and will be, developed for the road, and all the major manufacturers are working on different systems at this time.
