Arsenal Ladies for a number of years the team that everyone wanted to emulate, with their infrastructure and support from the mens premier team and now the newcomers on the block, Fulham.
So it turned out to be, with Fulham having a goal ruled out for offside (oh how we chanted for the replay, only to remember we were actually there!!) and then failing to convert a penalty the writing was on the wall.
The Gunners believing the Cup was theirs grew evermore confident and were unlucky at the end only to have a single goal to their credit.

As a new era dawned in the National League so the club changed its name to Cardiff City, but remained an independent outfit until 2001 when they joined forces with their male counterparts, but on the pitch unfortunately relegation followed back to the combination league.
Success in the combination league came in the league cup in 2001 before they were promoted in the 2003/4 season this time with a 100% winning record — the first in the leagues’ history regaining their status in the National League.

The side now plays in the South-West Womens Football League Premier Division and have been able to continue their remarkable run of results despite having much the same squad that has now progressed together through several levels of football.
The Ladies side first formed as City of Gloucester Ladies in the summer of 1997 and having entered Division 2 of the South-West Women's League they won their first competitive fixture against Bath City reserves with the Gloucester team recording a 9-1 win, Anna Grange becoming the first goalscorer.
The team then moved to the newly formed Gloucestershire Womens County League in 1998 and after a difficult first season the club changed it's name to Gloucester City Ladies for the 1999/2000 season.
