After the war the FAA faced the difficulty of flying (An airplane powered by one or more jet engines) jet aircraft from their carriers.
The nomenclature used by the FAA is to assign numbers in the 700-799 range to training and operational conversion squadrons and numbers in the 800-899 range to operational squadrons.
Gazelle AH1s and Lynx AH7s, serve the FAA in observation and attack helicopter roles respectively.

The Sea Harrier entered service with the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm (FAA) in June 1979, and by April 1982 four FAA squadrons were flying the Sea Harrier.
For attacks on Port Stanley"s runway, a mixed weapon load of CBUs, 1,000lb bombs and FAA 2in rocket pods were also used, but due to the very low release height the accuracy of the bombs was poor.

During the 1982 Falklands war the British forces captured two Argentine Agusta A-109 helicopters.
