Dog breeds : Irish Red Terrier / Irish Terrier
There is a heedless, reckless pluck about the Irish Terrier which is characteristic, and which, coupled with the headlong dash, blind to all consequences, with which he rushes at his adversary, has earned for the breed the proud epithet of "Daredevil." He is of good temper, most affectionate, and absolutely loyal to mankind.
The Irish Terrier's reputation was enhanced during the First World War when they were used as messenger dogs in the terrifying noise and confusion of trench warfare, thus proving both their intelligence and their fearlessness.
Though the terrier may be fierce when the circumstances call for it, the Irish Terrier is easily trained and a gentle pet, living up to his early description as " the poor man's sentinel, the farmer's friend and the gentleman's favourite ".

FCI Breed Standards: The Strangle Hold of the Country of Origin
As the FCI is a motley collection of countries with wide differences in their traditions of pure-bred dogs, the skill and knowledge in drawing up breed standards that can stand the test of time and avoid addressing passing fashions and fads, is equally variable.
An good illustration of the “political” influence on breed standards is the FCI standard for the Pomeranian, which is included in the German Spitz standard as adopted by Germany for all “German Spitz” breeds from the Keeshond to the Pomeranian.
In many FCI countries, on the other hand, breed standards seem to change more often than people change the model of their cars as breeds standards are molded to fit the dogs that have been produced rather than vice versa.

They were the aristocrats of the farm dogs, not left out with the other herding and ratting animals, but often kept in their owners' homes, a rare privilege as most working dogs would not be allowed inside.
The Skye Terrier is often called "a large dog with short legs", and their height of 10 inches (25 cm) at the withers is deceptive, as they are twice as long as they are tall, generally 20 inches (51 cm) long in a properly proportioned dog.
Breast cancer is the leading cause of Skye Terrier deaths, with Hemangiosarcomas (a malignant tumour of the blood vessels), Autoimmune disease, and Hyperthyroidism[1] as other concerns of the breed.

 Russian Guard
Black Terrier was produced in the "Red Star" kennel by reproductive crossing of such breeds as Giant Schnauzer (the key breed), Airedale Terrier, Rottweiler, Newfoundland, Caucasian Ovcharka, with addition of some Great Dane, Eastern-European Shepherd blood.
Handed in 1960s to the hobby breeders the breeding group started to change gradually, though the mixture from which it was composed, reminded about itself.
Changes in conformation of Black Terrier fortunately did not change valuable qualities laid into breed, though it should be pointed that chasing the wins at the shows in some cases leads to emerging of animals with undesirable temperament.
