The Ultimate Fin-Folding Aerial Rocket Dog Breeds Information Guide and Reference
The FFAR was developed in the late 1940s by the US Navy Naval Ordnance Test Center and North American Aviation, based on the German R4M rocket (used by the Messerschmitt Me-262 and others).
FFARs were the primary armament of many USAF interceptor aircraft in the early 1950s, including the F-86D, F-89, and F-94C.
A volley of FFARs was as devastating as a heavy cannon with far less weight and recoil, and in the ground-attack role its marginal long-range accuracy was less important.

NPU-70 (Nusantara Poly-Urethane 70) is developed by IPTN at the stage of technological integration, while prior to this, during the stage of licensing, the factory manufactured FFAR 2.75" and SUT.

 An Apache Gunfighter is Needed
(FFAR) can be mounted in place of Hellfires, but they are fixed and difficult to aim while on the move, which the Army and Marines discovered was necessary to stay alive in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Rockets are not accurate and are considered area weapons for "suppressive fire." As a result, they are not used close to friendly troops or in cities and towns.
A-10s are good, but I guess I'm old-fashioned because I'd rather have a Skyraider with a GAU-8 and a lot of FFAR pods.

These joint operations require the use of the 2.75-inch folding fin aerial rocket (FFAR) by non-naval units and this currently is not authorized aboard Navy ships without a waiver.
Procedures for operating with the 2.75-inch FFAR are “invented” when the deploying unit arrives on board during an actual contingency operation.
Additionally, data was obtained to evaluate the inter-service custody transfer of 2.75-inch FFAR with regards to packaging, handling, storage and transportation and shipboard suitability of Army weapons containers.

Air-Launched 3.5-Inch Rockets   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-11)
The 3.5-Inch FFAR entered service in late 1943, and the first submarine kill with the weapon occurred in January 1944.
At first, the rocket was fired from underwing rail launchers, but these induced a high drag on the aircraft and were therefore eventually changed to "zero-length" launchers (two posts to which the rockets were attached).
When fitted with an explosive warhead, the accuracy of the 3.5-Inch FFAR would have been good enough to be used against surface ships or land targets.

 Air-Launched 5-Inch Rockets
The first air-launched 5-inch rocket of the U.S. Navy was a derivative of an earlier 3.5-inch FFAR, which was developed by the Navy from June 1943 as an aircraft-launched ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare) rocket.
The 3.5-inch FFAR was considered accurate enough for use against surface ships and land targets, but needed an explosive warhead for these missions.
The 5-inch FFAR was also used from LSM(R) (Medium Landing Ship, Rocket) type vessels as an interim 5-inch beach bombardment rocket before the better-suited spin-stabilized 5-Inch HVSR (High-Velocity Spinner Rocket) became available.
