The World Motor Sport Council discussed the current performance level of Formula One cars noting that recent accidents have tested the absolute limits of the FIA¡¦s latest safety measures (Felipe Massa in Canada and Ralf Schumacher in the USA) and that speeds have increased very significantly over the last seven years.
The Hyundai Motor Company is to be invited to the October meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in connection with its early withdrawal from the 2003 FIA World Rally Championship.
The World Motor Sport Council rejected the report of the Working Group on Karting technical regulations and asked for new proposals to be presented in the October meeting.

The FIA’s World Motor Sport Council met in Paris on Wednesday and approved the sporting regulations for the 2008 FIA Formula One World Championship that include a number of radical proposals drawn up the organisations president Max Mosley.
With the regard to regulation changes the FIA statement said that these would require a majority vote by a new Sporting Working Group that will comprise one senior representative from each team, and the ratification by the Formula One Commission and the World Motor Sport Council.
The draft version of the 2008 Formula One Sporting Regulations also does away with the $48 million deposit required from new teams entering the championship and the requirement for teams to build their own chassis.

The World Motor Sport Council met in Monaco on December 10, 2004.
Approved the restructure of the FIA World Rally Championship Commission and delegated Mr Jacques Régis, President of the FFSA, with the authority to take charge of the Championship and prepare a plan for the next five years to be presented to the next meeting of the World Council.
Following the request of the World Motor Sport Council to reduce costs in Karting, regulations have been amended and now limit the equipment used per event to one chassis, two engines and two sets of tyres per driver.

The FIA intend to give the race stewards new powers to penalise drivers that change their engines, which come into effect for the start of the 2004 season.

THE FIA World Motor Sport Council has rescinded the guilty verdicts of the seven teams who failed to race in the United States Grand Prix last month.
On 29 June in Paris, the FIA WMSC found them guilty of failing to ensure a supply of safe tyres and of refusing to race in the ill-fated event at Indianapolis on 19 June.
An FIA statement read: "Having examined the new evidence previously submitted to the FIA Senate, the FIA World Motor Sport Council has voted overwhelmingly to accept the recommendation of the FIA senate regarding events at the 2005 United States Grand Prix."

The FIA cannot continue to wait for proposals, because it is obliged to publish the 2008 Formula One Technical Regulations before the end of 2005.
In practice this means the new rules must be finalised by the fourth week of September for submission to the World Motor Sport Council and the FIA General Assembly at the end of October.
Once finalised and approved by the World Motor Sport Council and FIA General Assembly, the rules must be published before the end of 2005 as required by the Concorde Agreement.

Britain have lost its seat on the FIA's World Motor Sport Council - the decision-making governing body which has great influence on the whole of motor racing throughout the world.
The body blow comes after new MSA chief executive Colin Hilton failed to receive enough votes to be elected onto the Council and was beaten to a seat by Turkey's Mumtaz Tahincioglu.
The result means Britain will not have a major voice on motor racing decisions for the next four years - even though Briton Max Mosley has won a third term as FIA's president.

The Teams explained to the World Motor Sport Council that, in the light of the clear and written advice from Michelin that it was unsafe to race at Indianapolis on the tyres supplied by that company, the Teams had no choice but to decline to race.
It must also be remembered that the FIA wrote to all of the teams and both tyre manufacturers on June 1, 2005, to emphasise that "tyres should be built to be reliable under all circumstances" (see correspondence attached).
As it is, by refusing to run unless the FIA broke the rules and handicapped the Bridgestone runners, they have damaged themselves and the sport.

The FIA World Motor Sport Council met today in Paris to discuss the rules for F1 in 2008 and beyond.
They seem to allow the FIA to accept or reject any engine presented after June 1st of this year based on the FIA's determination of weather or not the engine could "fairly and equitably" be allowed to race against the other homolugated engines.
The good news is that it seems the FIA could allow manufacturers to submit redesigns for approval if their engine had a weakness.
