Frederick James Furnivall - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Furnivall edited texts for the Early English Text Society, for the Roxburghe Club and the Rolls Series; but his most important work was on Geoffrey Chaucer.
Furnivall was always an enthusiastic oarsman, and till the end kept up his interest in rowing; with John Beesley in 1845 he introduced the new type of narrow sculling boat, and in 1886 started races on the Thames for sculling fours and sculling eights.
In 1896 Furnivall founded the Hammersmith Sculling Club (now called Furnivall Sculling Club), initially for working-class girls, and he "entered into its activities with his usual boyish enthusiasm, for it brought together two of his favourite activities: vigorous outdoor exercise and enjoyment of the company of young women" (Peterson 2004).

 Scout Steering Conversion
I have done both the Saginaw and the Scout steering conversions on FJ 55's and the Scout conversion is by far and away the easiest of the two.
I'll try to explain the Scout conversion as simply as I can giving a list of the parts and tools needed to do the job.
This approach presents a set of fabrication requirements that call for professional shop services and can cost upwards of $1000 for labor alone.

From Cookham to Maidenhead the journey was uneventful, and at length our terminus was reached, and we were once more aboard the train on our way back to town, fairly well tired, but feeling all the fitter for the outing.
Amongst our party were Dr Percy Kidd, Dr Gilbart-Smith, Dr Hadley, DR FJ Smith, Mr Munro Scott, Mr Furnivall, Dr Hunter, The Hon.
Sydney Holland, and last, but far from least, was "Ramps" without whom a boating picnic would be about as incomplete as Christmas without its Father Christmas.
