Both these ports are now compiled with OpenWatcom C. fMSX now has a built-in configuration menu that works the same across all platforms and a new screen buffer based debugger.
The fMSX source code is written in portable C and will work on any sufficiently fast computing platform, be it a personal computer, a videogame console, a PDA, a cell phone, a set-top box, a DVD or MP3 player, or even a digital camera.

The major difference between fMSX and the two competitors at the time was the fact that the sourcecode of fMSX was freely available for non-commercial use, allowing other developers to improve the emulator or to port it to other computer systems and operating systems.
fMSX developer Marat Fayzullin considers the GUI and the extra support he has to give to Windows users to be valuable enough to charge for it.
Although the 3.0 release of fMSX brings a bit more bang for your buck with the new debugger and the full-screen mode, we suggest you spend those $35,- on new or old MSX software or hardware.

 Runtime Errors
The lastest version of fMSX for example requires you to pay a sum of $35 in order to use it.
It was the first to be able to emulate all the MSX subsystems with the exception of the Turbo R. The latest version is avaiable for Windows, DOS, Unix, MAC, Playstation and a whole lot of other (more obscure) platforms.
Although it is not as excellent as fMSX or NLMSX, RuMSX is constantly being developed and you can have a quick look at some of the source code as well.

If you don't know what MSX is, this is a good place to start.
This port is based on fMSX 2.6 and includes both MSX-AUDIO and MSX-MUSIC emulation (in stereo if desired).
CAS Tools is a set of tools which can read sampled MSX tapes and convert them to the standard.cas format and back to.wav samples.

It is basically a simplified version of fMSX, as ColecoVision has almost the same hardware as MSX1.

We've already wrote about his Virtual GameBoy Advance emulator and fMSX is just another addition in his freeware portfolio.
fMSX is a portable emulator of MSX, MSX2, and MSX2+ home computers, being developed since 1993.
As far as we know there is already an fMSX port to S60 made by Juha Riihimaki, but this is a geniune port, based on the latest fMSX core and the same Marat’s S60 framework that is used on other emulators from this developer.

If you have never heard of it here in America (it did not do very well here, as far as I know), I am sure that there are people all over the world that had one of them.
Anyway, fmsx is working fine, but I did have some problems compiling it.

 PSP Updates Forum - Bugfix 0.62 for the fMSX emulator
There was nothing wrong with the fmsx 0.61+ as far as I could see.
FMSX 0.61+ has a really cool overlay keyboard that pops up at the press of a button for keyboard input.
And you can also still see the game screen because there is a cutaway in the overlay to theright half of the screen.

Please boot the originated file ms100.dsk by regarding it as inserted in drivea, referring to the operation procedure of your fMSX.
The execution was confirmed on fMSX for Windows 1.5w02 by Tokuyama of Hokkaido University, and on fMSX-DOS 1.6b1 by Marcel de Kogel.
If you find the wrong execution on any other fMSX platforms, please report to the author about "the type of your fMSX" and "malfunction symptoms" through the address noted below, however to much of your inconvenience.

It is distributed as the additional source code to fMSX.
Original fMSX is adjusted for using 101 keyboard.
You can use several options as same as original fMSX 2.1, except -saver, -nosaver, -scale and the other options related to X window.

Of course fMSX Amiga is fully multitasking, runs in an intuition screen, and has a font-sensitive, resizable user interface.
In this version fMSX will also emulate the Colecovision system (and I know many Amigans want a Colecovision emulator: my mailbox has been full of requests over the last few years ;-)) Other new additions include some speed increases, some bug fixes, and a lot of improvements to compatibility.
The '060 version now supports digitized speech (fMSX always supported this, but the quality was highly dependent on the speed of your Amiga.

A while ago, Marat released fMSX 2.0b for the Unix platform.
Marat has made an MS-Windows version of fMSX himself, which might be of interest.

If not I'll stick to fMSX for my games for a > while, and check in upon MESS every now and then.
If you have any troubles getting xmess to run on your unix box, feel free to mail me :) Btw, note that MAME/MESS is also not compliant with free software unfortunately :(E.g.: it is in the non-free part of Debian.

 GP32x.com Board [GP32 GP2X XGP] -> FMSX & FNES
Ive read the Readme on these two but i cant get pas the MSX basic screen on fmsx and when i hold left shoulder it says virtual keyboard but non appears and the butons dont do any thing in that mode.
Fmsx 4me says something scannign directories + nevr stops ever+ i just hav 2 turn off my gp32 + that corrupts the smc
Make sure you've got your fMSX app in the gpmm dir (duh) and you can make an "MSX" dir inside there as well (only put your roms in there).

In order to make a release that was worth slightly more, I beautified the key profile menues, and made them more userfriendly.
This release includes all the fixes from the fMSX v0.61+ release (by unknown author), plus another minor update by myself, but one that might be useful for a lot of people.
This minor release of the fMSX emulator simply fixes an omission made by teh guy that originaly ported the emulator.

This is an SDL (Simple Direct Media Library) port of Marat Fayzullin's fMSX emulator.
The difference between this and paraMSX (the Windows port of fMSX) is this includes MSX-MUSIC and it's the first MSX emulator which includes MSX-AUDIO emulation.
