 | | Foss was believed to be the first to break the 1918 aerial record of Eddie Rickenbacker, who shot down 25 German planes during World War I. Foss returned to active duty as a colonel in the Air Force during the Korean War, becoming director of operations for the Central Air Defense Force. |
