A relativistic FTL universe would be acausal (magical perhaps?), a causal FTL universe would have to assume (against the weight of all observational conformation) that Einstein got it wrong, and only Newtonian physics applies.
In addition, wormholes are the only form of FTL that don't conflict with causality (technically a wormhole is a local distortion in spacetime, it is not true FTL at all).
FTL warp drives don't preserve either, which is a good reason to think they aren't possible at all.

FTL - Uncyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
FTL (Free To Live) is a common religion adopted by humans in the late 20th century after massive war efforts by various conservative nations caused the destruction of multiple human entities in some desert country.
FTL states that believers of this religion will be able to become immortal by turning into beings of energy after running very fast.
Another interpretation of FTL states that immortality will be because the believer will travel back in time after running very fast, however this view is not widely supported as it is synonymous to the concept of "hell" and "democracy" in religions such as Marxism and Socialism.

Propulsion in the Re-imagined Series - Battlestar Wiki
Colonial FTL systems appear to be a holdover from the Exodus from Kobol, and their current designs have been developed to meet the needs of jumping between the Twelve Colonies, and their outposts in other star systems.
Colonial FTL capabilities have defined limits, referred to as the Red Line, beyond which jumps may not be possible / could result in damage to a vessel's drive system / lead to navigational inaccuracies that might put the ship at risk.
The FTL drive technology used within the Re-imagined Series appears to be based on the use of Superstring Theory and M-Theory that essentially enable the "jump drive" systems to "fold" space, reducing the distance between any two points by creating a "corridor" through space that links them together (essentially forming a wormhole, or Einstein-Rosen Bridge).

Relativity and FTL Travel: Part IV
Of course, by our definition of FTL travel in Section 1.1 (where the light you are "racing" against goes through normal space between the starting and ending points) this would still be considered FTL travel.
A basic example of this is the idea for FTL travel is presented in a paper by Miguel Alcubierre of the University of Wales (the paper is available via the world wide web).
We use the same arguments we did in the section concerning the "second problem" (Section 4.1), except that the two FTL portions (the bullet and the signal from the third observer) are sent from two different locations so that neither is affected by the other's effects on space-time.

Life With the Federal Tax Lien (or FTL)
Although a trustee takes property subject to a "perfected" FTL and the Service generally enjoys the benefits of a secured creditor, claims for federal taxes are subordinated to claims having a higher priority under BC § 507(a), irrespective of whether or not notice of the FTL has been properly filed [BC § 724(b)].
An FTL does not have an unlimited life; its life is coextensive with that of the assessment from which it springs [IRC § 6322].
Whether an FTL arising out of the separate tax liability of one co-owner attaches to the interest of another co-owner depends on whether a co-owner's interest is subject to the claims of another co-owner's creditors, and is determined by reference to state law.

Relativity and FTL Travel--PART IV (suggested reading)
Now, some FTL travel concepts we consider will involve using certain areas of space-time which are not flat (and I will go over them when we get there); however, the important thing for us is that all around these non-flat areas, the space-time can be approximated fairly well as being flat.
Though the FTL observer or signal which travels using this concept would leave the realm of our physics, the relationship between two observers (like O and Op) who stayed behind (within the realm of our physics) would not be effected.
He might then argue that no FTL signal has yet been sent which would keep him from sending a FTL message to O. The problem with his argument is that he has already witnessed the result of the FTL bullet being sent (even if it hasn't occurred in his frame yet).
