Frank (magazine) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A counteroffer was soon made by a group of Toronto investors led by former Globe and Mail business reporter Fabrice Taylor.
Taylor moved the magazine to Toronto and relaunched it in late 2003 — however, circulation dropped dramatically, and lingering financial difficulties resulting from libel lawsuits ended with the final issue on December 3, 2004.
The Ottawa edition of Frank was resurrected after Bate reportedly reacquired the property from Taylor, returning the satire magazine to the nation's capital.

Family ties, Fabrice explained, were blood-thick, and even though Fabrice fought on the side of the rebels, his father had gotten word to him about the money and the place where it was hidden.
Fabrice put one on the table, poured a tiny amount of the clear liquid on a bit of cotton and began swabbing one of the papers.
Fabrice, having been beaten in the deal, raised his hands to his face and rubbed his eyes, as if he was suffering from a migraine.

ESPN.com Soccernet England: Full-time Report - Aston Villa v Southampton
Once again Graham Taylor's side were left to rue their lack of finishing power in front of goal with Darius Vassell and Gareth Barry squandering golden first half chances.
Saints were a constant threat on the counter-attack with Anders Svensson and Fabrice Fernandes particularly impressive while Beattie had mountains of space in the second half to exploit once Villa had handed them a numerical advantage.
Taylor then went to a 3-4-2 formation and Villa showed plenty of spirit with Vassell trying everything to get his side back on level terms.

CBC Arts: Frank magazine goes belly up
Frank's demise confirms the rumours, which had been circulating for months, that new publisher Fabrice Taylor was having difficulty turning the magazine around.
When Taylor — a former Globe and Mail columnist — took over from founding editor Michael Bate last year, circulation was 8,500, down from a high of roughly 16,000 during the 1980s.
Taylor had promised to relaunch Frank with a new focus on Bay Street gossip

-- Fabrice Taylor's October column ("Invest in a sure thing--death") about viatical settlement--the purchase of a life insurance policy for less than its face value from someone who's not likely to live long--didn't provide any caveats.
Taylor also didn't address whether the purchase and sale would be viewed as a securities type of transaction and regulated accordingly, nor did he explore the tax implications to the vendors or purchasers.
These are issues that would need to be addressed if and when the purchase and sale of life insurance policies becomes accepted by regulators.

These days, Fabrice works as an analyst at Pollitt & Co.--an independent Toronto brokerage--and, I'm thrilled to announce, will moonlight as a columnist for this magazine, bringing the same energy and insight that were his hallmarks at the paper.

Fabrice Taylor, the former Star and Globe and Mail journalist turned financial analyst, has resurfaced in the media with a monthly investment column in the Report on Business magazine.
With refreshing honesty - some might say bluntness - Fabrice looked beyond the gloss of annual reports and dug into the nitty gritty of public companies' accounting practices, making both a lot of friends and a lot of enemies in the process.
Turnbull forgets the biggie: In 2003, Taylor quit that "Vox'' gig and then lost a reported $400,000 buying and ultimately busting the Ottawa-based gossip rag, Frank Magazine.

I found Taylors article refreshing in that it actually looked a bit deeper than ALL the news saying AC has gone bad due to 9/11 war SARS, ect..

This paper presents stochastic simulations of a non-linear Phillips curve model with a random shock on the labor market, a random shock on inflation, and 20 state variables to represent a rather complex dynamical adjustment.
Various methods are used to perform the simulations: two approaches to parameterized-expectations and a high-order Taylor expansion.
The effects of non-linearity are then evaluated by a comparison with a linearized version of the model.

As a former longtime subscriber to Frank magazine I received a postcard in the mail this week, notifying me of our favorite accuracy-challenged satirical biweekly's imminent relaunch in online form.
Ya know, I stuck with Michael Bate and co. for a long time - 9 years, including the ill-advised 1th-hour ownership of Fabrice Taylor - and during that time watched the price for a year's subscription (26 issues) rise from $45 to $49.95 (including GST).
Up until the final months I considered it relatively good value for my entertainment and edification dollar: a few hours' worth of amusement provided every two weeks at a unit cost of less than a toonie.
