The show takes place in the aptly-named Face the Music Cafe, where a group of friends meets from time to time to discuss different musical styles and listen to some local talent.

The music industry stands at an historic crossroads -- almost every aspect of the way people consume and listen to popular music is changing, dwarfing even the seismic shift in the 1880s when music lovers turned from sheet music and player pianos to wax cylinders and later, in 1915, newfangled 78 rpm phonograph discs.
Compact discs, the dominant form of recorded music today, may be extinct within the next few years -- or they may continue to appeal to some percentage (know one knows the exact number) of (probably older) music buyers, while young listeners turn exclusively to downloaded music files.

The questions to the panel were asked in a series of rounds, each with a theme, such as "The Face, the Music" (where a member of the panel would have to identify a composer from his picture, while music by a different composer was played in the background).
The most popular round was the "dummy keyboard", where Cooper played a famous piano piece on a dummy piano so that it had to be identified merely from his hand movements.
