RFC 2762 (rfc2762) - Sampling of the Group Membership in RTP
In the first, a corrective factor is added to the group size estimate, and in the second, the group size estimate is multiplied by a corrective factor.
The additive factor starts at the difference between the group size estimate before and after the number of bits in the mask is reduced, and decays to 0 (this is not always half the group size estimate, as the corrective factors can be compounded, see below).
Both factors decay over a time of cL(ts-), where c is the average RTCP packet size divided by the RTCP bandwidth for receivers, and L(ts-) is the group size estimate just before the change in the number of bits in the mask at time ts.

Factor group: Definition and Links by Encyclopedian.com - All about Factor group   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-14)
Given a mathematical group G and a normal subgroup N of G, the factor group, or quotient group, of G over N can be thought of as arising from G by "collapsing" the subgroup N to the identity element.
If G is the group of invertible 3-by-3 real matrices, and N is the subgroup of 3-by-3 real matrices with determinant 1, then N is normal in G (since it is the kernel of the group homomorphism det), and G/N is isomorphic to the multiplicative group of non-zero real numbers.
Several important properties of factor groups are recorded in the fundamental theorem on homomorphisms and the isomorphism theorems.

Quotient group - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In mathematics, given a group G and a normal subgroup N of G, the quotient group, or factor group, of G over N is a group that intuitively "collapses" the normal subgroup N to the identity element.
If G is the group of invertible 3×3 real matrices, and N is the subgroup of 3×3 real matrices with determinant 1, then N is normal in G (since it is the kernel of the determinant homomorphism), and G/N is isomorphic to the multiplicative group of non-zero real numbers.
Trivially, G/G is isomorphic to the trivial group (the group with one element), and G/{e} is isomorphic to G.

Topological group - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In mathematics, a topological group G is a group that is also a topological space such that the group multiplication G × G → G and the inverse operation G → G are continuous maps.
An example of a topological group which is not a Lie group is given by the rational numbers Q with the topology inherited from R.
The theory of group representations is almost identical for finite groups and for compact topological groups.

NEJM -- Transfer factor for the prevention of varicella-zoster infection in childhood leukemia
Sixty-one patients with leukemia and no immunity to chickenpox were given dialyzable transfer factor or placebo and followed for 12 to 30 months in a double-blind trial designed to examine the clinical efficacy of transfer factor.
Sixteen patients in the transfer-factor group and 15 in the placebo group were exposed to varicella zoster, and most of them had a rise in antibody titer.
In the patients treated with transfer factor and exposed to varicella without acquiring chickenpox the titer of antibody to varicella zoster was equal to that in the patients given placebo who became infected with chickenpox.

Factor group analysis   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-14)
Factor group analysis of simple free molecules is often easy, but the extension into crystalline materials is frequently troublesome.
Factor group analysis is a method used for determining symmetry of vibrations [11, 24, 58-64].
The main difference between the factor group analysis of lattice vibrations and internal modes, is that lattice modes are considered as the movements of groups of atoms in the crystalline lattice [58, 62].

 Factor group - Wikipedia
Given a mathematical group G and a normal subgroup N of G, the factor group of G over N is the set of all the cosets (see under subgroup) of N in G; it is denoted by G/N.
Being N normal in G allows one to give in a natural way a group structure on G/N: if aN and bN are elements of G/N, the product aN * bN is by definition equal to (ab)N, and by the normality of N this definition is well-posed.
There is a "natural" surjective group homomorphism π : G -> G/N, sending each element g of G in the coset of N to which it belongs, that is: π(g) = gN.

 District Factor Groups
The District Factor Group (DFG) is an indicator of the socioeconomic status of citizens in each district and has been useful for the comparative reporting of test results from New Jersey's statewide testing programs.
Districts were then ranked according to their score on this measure and divided into eight groups based on the score interval in which their scores were located.
Whereas the DFGs based on the 1980 United States Census resulted in 10 groups containing approximately equal numbers of districts, the DFGs based on the 1990 United States Census resulted in eight groups of different sizes depending on their score.

“The Factor Group Splitting Phenomenon: The Vibrational Spectroscopy Approach to Asses Polymer Crystallinity and ...   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-14)
In spite of that, there exits an interesting spectroscopic phenomenon called "factor group splitting" or "correlation splitting", which is now known for many years, and that is suspected to account for some of the multiplicity of peaks recorded in the vibrational spectrum of a number of semicrystalline polymers, including polyethylene, aliphatic polyketones, poly(oxymethylene)
This "factor group splitting" should not be mistaken though with the so-called "site group splitting" or "crystal field splitting".
As the factor group splitting phenomenon is the result of an interchain interaction within the lattice, alterations in this, induced by for instance cold drawing and inclusion of side chains, leads to variations in the intensity and separation of the splitting components.
