From 1961 to 1981 he occupied a variety of teaching, research and managerial positions in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Electronics, Warsaw University of Technology.
Since 1987 he has been a lecturer and a senior lecturer in the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.
In 1982 he visited the Department of Computer Science, Australian National University, Canberra, and from 1983 to 1986 he was a Research Fellow and lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Adelaide, where he worked on multi-variable control systems.

 Chapter 5: Burnley Horticultural College, 1891
His Melbourne University course in agricultural science was interrupted by service in the AIF during World War I. On his return he completed studies for his bachelor's degree and went on to qualify as a Master of Agricultural Science.
The affiliation of the VCAH with the University of Melbourne first mooted in 1988 received strong support from Burnley College staff, although the real impact of affiliation has only been felt with the creation of the new Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Horticulture in April 1995.
With increasing numbers of Burnley students choosing to further their studies at the university, it was important to ensure that adequate recognition was given to their work at the college.

One such collaboration was Dipesh Chakrabarty, "Democracy, Discipline and the Politics of the Multitude" on 22 nd November 2001, sponsored by the Melbourne Institute of Asian Languages and Societies and the Political Science Department of the University of Melbourne in conjunction with the Institute.
An Affiliation Agreement between the University of Melbourne and the Institute was signed in October 2003, replacing a Recognition Agreement of June 2000.
The Institute also has a Memorandum of Association with the Faculty of Arts, Monash University (March 2000).
