	Fad Gadget - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Fad Gadget was the pseudonym used by British musician, synthesizer pioneer, and performance artist Frank Tovey (September 8, 1956 - April 3, 2002), an influential electronic music/New Wave artist throughout his career.
		Fad Gadget began his musical career after studying performance art at Leeds Metropolitan University.
		Fad Gadget was the first artist signed to the then-fledgling Mute label and released four full-length albums, Fireside Favourites (1980), Incontinent (1981), Under The Flag (1982) and Gag (1984).

		Fad Gadget, who alongside Human League, Cabaret Voltaire and The Normal, was at the forefront of the Electronic Movement of the late 70s/early 80s.
		After four critically acclaimed albums as Fad Gadget, Tovey dropped the moniker and recorded a further five albums for Mute under his own name and with the Pyros throughout the '80s and early '90s.

		Depending on who you are, Fad Gadget is either a one-man music legend, or an odd man with a silly name.
		Indeed, the lovable Fad seemed to have something of the Iggy Pops about him on the evening, and one fan was so overcome that during the superlative ‘Back to Nature’ he leapt onstage and gave the man a congratulatory piggy-back.
		One complaint, ‘Life on the Line’, one of Fad Gadgets best and most well loved tracks was inexplicably missing, but the overall intensity of this gig was compensation enough.

		Ricky's hand, I was impressed not only with the simplicity of the track, but also with the message at the back of the 7" single, which clearly stated : "IMPORTANT - Only synthetic sound sources have been used in the making of this disc (excluding a Black and Decker V8 double speed electric drill).
		This weird song was created by Fad Gadget (real name Frank Tovey) and Daniel Miller, -the big boss of Mute records- who started the record company, working on
		I collected all of his records and singles, and even when he decided to move away from electronic music, he never stopped impressing me. Firesite Favourites, Incontinent, Under the Flag, Gag, Civilian and Sam Hall are only a few of the albums he created.
