Stressful events — job setbacks, romantic failures, reversal of financial fortunes — can lead to suicide, and all of those cascaded down on Lewis in the last years of his life.
This geologic event was the root of the "Bridge of the Gods" mythology.
Occupational instability — that is, the avoidance of work, interpersonal conflicts, and a failure to perform duties — is a common outcome for those with PTSD and was the hallmark of Lewis's post-expeditionary life.

NASA management has improved over the years, resulting in more efficient programs and fewer failures, but the report says some level of failure is to be expected, even encouraged for the advancement of science.
President Ralston acknowledged that funding for numerous programs had been cut in a recent budget correction but insisted the MDRA was not being shut down.
President Ralston announced in a press conference today that a special committee formed to investigate the recent restructuring of NASA operations has found the Mars Probe program troublesome.

Lailoken the minstrel, a dark man full of dark ambitions and angers, bitter from professional failures and personal losses, strode down the verge of the ancient Roman road which angled westward out of Gododdin, singing to an audience of bracken, cracked stones, and rainclouds.
Between sunset the previous night and dawn this morning, Lailoken had been chosen by the gods of old, the gods of thunder and blood sacrifice and revenge.
I left the garrison of Caer-Iudeu yesterday, when the King of Gododdin and his brother left to strike across the northern border into Pictish Fortriu.

 Enuma Elish--The Babylonian Creation Story
Anshar calls together a council of the elder gods (including Lahmu and Lahamu) and explains the dire situation by repeating the whole story of Tiamat's army of monsters, Ea's and Anu's failures to stop her, and Marduk's offer to help.
After the waters of Apsu and Tiamat mix, the gods Lahmu and Lahamu ("slime, mud") emerge.
And from this pair come Anshar ("whole sky") and Kishar ("whole earth"), meaning perhaps "the horizon, the circular rim of heaven and the corresponding circular rim of earth" (Jacobsen 168).

The Liberal Party that Trudeau left in 1984, and after that year's September election left it in tatters, was no longer the smooth managerial machine of the St. Laurent years, nor the idealistic, reforming and almost insurgent party of the late 1960s.
The Liberal Party post-Trudeau was a victim both of its successes and its failures.

I'll have more respect for your choice when you indemnify users of your software against loss and damage caused by software failures - until then your freedom comes at someone else's expense.
I've maintained an awful lot of both types of code, and the "freedom" languages (whose proper domain is one-shots) appeal to "programmers" who _think_ they're "gods" and _think_ their programs actually work (and which often do work in a few test cases).

Such exalted aspirations are bound to be disappointed, and Booth recalls his share of failures; but since the image of the exemplary caring and zealous teacher may still be daunting or invidious, Booth reveals a frailer dimensions of his ethos to reassure his colleagues that he is really one of them.
But this attitude is consistent with what I have called Booth's religious bent, with his public insistence that the good teacher bears the “power to transform souls, the power to turn psyches away from or towards the light” (298).
In pursuit of it, Booth hopes that rhetoric (rhetoric-A pushed to its limit and renamed “rhetorology”) can “fill the gap … left when theology, philosophy, the idea of scientific progress, faith in ultimate political revolution, and all other gods have failed” (125).

My favorite album from Immolation is their third effort, "Failures for Gods." Here we see more variety than in the past, and a lot of great riffs and intense memorable moments.
By this point it is obvious that Immolation have perfected their sound and are able to write music that is very effective on less material than before.
Note: Perhaps eventually I will go through and review each of their albums in detail, but for now I do not have the time to do that, but felt a page on Immolation is needed here.

 Immolation - Technical Death Metal
In hellishness and the serenity of balanced and logical structure, "Failures for Gods" reigns at the top of a hierarchy of metal achievements.
On their first album, Immolation can be seen making the transition from the straightforward death metal of their demo to a new and technical style within the advancements the death metal genre was to make in the early 1990s, seen most prominently on the newer songs on the first half of this release.
Review: Renewing the assault with a powerful second album, Immolation emerge after five years to sculpt from pure sound a newly abstract form of their trademark guttural and uncertainty-inducing metal, using a panopoly of textures and chord voicings to augment rhythmic narratives through the mind of a blasphemer with decent reasons to hate Jesus.

 GODS PLAN FOR ALL
It is sad to report that when Pastor Russell died in 1916, the failures of human nature and the promptings of Satanic influences quickly resulted in the Watch Tower Society’s becoming dictatorial.
It cannot be over-emphasized that the purposes of this society at that time were only to provide a source of helpful literature, to provide a clearing-house for the exchange of ideas and the arrangement of conventions for mutual fellowship and edification, and to provide a center from which world-wide witness activities could be launched.
Such is the case with the messenger who stands at the forefront of the 19th Century Bible student movement, Charles Taze Russell.
