The Fairey Seafox was a pre-war maritime floatplane version of the biplane Fairey Fox which first flew on 3 January, 1923.
A Fairey Seafox, K8582 or K8591, from 718 squadron from HMS Ajax spotted over the German ship Graf Spee during the Battle of the River P, its crew of Lt EDG Lewin and Lt REN Kearney were awarded the DSC and MID.
No Fairey Seafox are known to have survived or are preserved in the World's Museums.

The tail of the Seafox had the HMS Ajax crest.
I measured the Seafox in the kit where I found it to be about 1/530 scale, about 13% larger than what it should be.

The Ajax carried two Seafoxes probably not camouflaged and possibly K 8581 and K 8582 with the crest of Ajax on the fin.
As one was damaged only one spotted but no one seems to remember which or any other details except that Lt. Lewin received the DFC for his efforts and Lt. Kearney was mentioned in despatches.
The Seafox had an all metal fuselage with silver doped fabric covered flying surfaces with red tips to the floats.

I am looking for cockpit shots and information on this aircraft there is not much on the internet and I cant seem to find a book on it.
A search here: www.catalogue.nationalarchives.gov.uk for Seafox shows a bunch of results, including: 'AVIATION (90): Fleet Air Arm: trials of Fairey Seafox L.R. Aircraft', ref: ADM 1/10106 - these trials usually had a set of photos of external views of the aircraft for records purposes.
One of the few things I know about the Seafox is that it was powered by a Napier Rapier of 395hp.

I started making models again a couple of months ago, with a Fokker D VII, Kamov Black Shark (...well, it is a kind of a doppeldecker :-)), Fairey Swordfisch and a Fairey Seafox from Matchbox, and a Spad VII from Airfix.
WWI doppeldeckers have always been my fascination, and my dream is to build a remote-controlled, flying model of an Ilja Muromets and a Sopwith Triplane :-) ; however, I have neither money nor time for that.

R.A.F. aircraft including the Supermarine Stranraer, Armstrong-Whitworth Siskin, Vickers Wellesley, Fairey Seafox, and H.P. Victor have not been kitted by any other major manufacturer of injection moulded kits and if you want examples of these aircraft in your collection, there is little choice.
The first 4 kits mentioned above are quite acceptable, and the Victor can be made into a decent replica (love those gaps in the splitter plates inside the air intakes though!) with a lot of work.
