Fairfax County is a county of the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the United States.
Fairfax County is the location of many suburbs of Washington D.C. and the county lies just outside of Washington D.C. Time zones are areas of the Earth that have adopted the same standard time, usually referred to as the local time.
Fairfax County was once considered a strong Republican bastion in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. However, Democrats have increasingly made inroads in Fairfax County in the past decade with Democrats now controlling the Board of Supervisors and the School Board (which is officially nonpartisan) as well as the Sheriff and Commonwealth Attorney offices.

Fairfax County was formed in 1742 from the northern part of Prince William County (additional info and facts about Prince William County).
In 1789 part of Fairfax County was ceded to the federal government to form Alexandria County of the District of Columbia (The district occupied entirely by the city of Washington; chosen by George Washington as the site of the nation's capital and carve out of land ceded by Maryland and Virginia).
Fairfax County is home to more than 60,000 Koreans, particularly in the Annandale area, along with substantial groups of immigrants from other, primarily Asian, countries.

He was the son of Ferdinando Fairfax, 2d Baron Fairfax of Cameron (1584–1648), whose title he inherited and under whom he fought in the early stages of the English civil war.
In 1645 he was given command of the New Model Army, which he organized and trained and led to victory against Charles I at Naseby.
Fairfax was conservative by nature, and when the quarrel developed between the army and Parliament he exercised little influence over army policies.
