Faithful; Faithfulness (International Standard Bible Encyclopedia) :: Bible Tools
Faithfulness is a quality or attribute applied in the Scripture to both God and man. This article is limited to the consideration of the Scripture teaching concerning the meaning of faithfulness in its application to God.
In Exodus 34:6 it is God's faithfulness ('emeth) which is referred to, since it evidently signifies His constancy from generation to generation; and in Deuteronomy 32:4 it is also God's faithfulness ('emunah) which is mentioned, since it is contrasted with the faithlessness of Israel.
The faithfulness of God is viewed from a slightly different point by Peter when he tells his readers that those who suffer as Christians and in accordance with God's will should "commit their soul's in well-doing unto a faithful Creator" (1 Peter 4:19).

Faithfulness is one of nine fruits of the spirit listed in Galatians 5:22-23 of which it is said "against such there is no law." The only way in which we will be able to possess this precious fruit in our life is through hearing and study (Romans 10:17; 2 Timothy 2:15).

And since the covenant-keeping Yahweh is faithful, faithfulness comes also to be a characteristic of the New Covenant which is everlasting (Psalms 89:28 (Hebrew 29)); compare also for a similar thought, Isaiah 54:8; Jeremiah 31:35; Hosea 2:19; Ezekiel 16:60.
In the former passage Paul is contrasting the faithfulness of God with the faithlessness of men, the word alethes, 3:4, and aletheia, 3:7, apparently denoting the same Divine characteristic as the word pistis, 3:3.
But when in the Book of Revelation Jesus Christ is called the "faithful witness" or absolutely the "Faithful and True," it is clear that the quality of faithfulness, in the most absolute sense in which it is characteristic of God in contrast with human changeableness, is ascribed to Christ (Revelation 1:5; 3:14; 19:11).

 EXHORTATION TO FAITHFULNESS
Faithfulness is required of us to be pleasing in the sight of God.
Though one has no real reason for saying it, however, if one should say that he simply can not understand the faithfulness of God, or that he has a problem translating that quality into his own life, then he needs to remember that Jesus is the perfect example of faithfulness.
Now that it has been established just how important faithfulness is, seeing that it is an intrinsic quality in the character of both God and Christ, each of us needs to learn the areas of our lives whereby we may grow in faithfulness.

 The Assurance of God's Faithfulness
Since the faithfulness of God is presented in scripture as an assurance to us that we can trust God, it appears that the moral government view undermines this very assurance, and installs doubt in the theological landscape.
Admittedly their view would insure this faithfulness if it were true, but the fact that the Bible says God is faithful, and the fact that God has shown Himself to be faithful, does not make this theory of His faithfulness to be true.
A theory on the nature of this faithfulness cannot satisfy this need, for assurance in the truth of the theory would require that we already could trust the testimony of God, since He alone could confirm its truth.

Now, untruth and faithfulness don't go together, so you see there again marked and stamped on God's truth is His attribute of faithfulness.
The first is the faithfulness of God in forgiving, 1 John 1 and verse 9, you may need to turn to it, you may not: 'If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness'.
Now that is the faithfulness of God's truth, you have confessed Jesus Christ as Lord, and that is God's truth - and because of that God will be faithful to bring you to your final destination and Christ will come again for you one day, and that is your hope that is in God's truth.
