THE WORLD DREAM BANK: VENUS PLACE NAMES: B
An archipelago in the Vacuna Gulf off Cape Fakahotu, the western tip of Tethus.
They're named for a cluster of low volcanic vents near the south end of the group--so low they may be mere reefs not even breaking the surface.
Two of the non-volcanic islands to the north are giants: a 180-km extension of Cape Fakahotu and a 150-km island well to the north.

Oceania - The Northwest Atolls and The Eastern Atolls by Peter Buck
In one myth, Atea-rangi mates with Atea to produce the gods Tane (ruler of things above), Tangaroa (lord of the ocean), and Rongo (patron of oratory and eloquence).
This arrangement follows the early pattern that emanated from Opa, except that by some confusion Atea takes the place of Papa or Fakahotu in being mated to Atea-rangi.
The compound name of Atea-rangi connects in thought the Atea of central Polynesia with the Rangi of New Zealand, who are the husbands of Papa, the Earth-mother.

THE WORLD DREAM BANK: VENUS: ISHTAR
The Mediterranean hills of Earhart Corona are all that the daybirds see, but to the southwest, Tethus stretches fully 2000 km, steadily getting warmer and greener, especially past the Nightingale Hills and twin-lobed Melia Bay.
In the far south, Cape Fakahotu and the Boadiceas offshore have subtropical rainforest, and even taller forests grow on the Ananke Islands 800 km southeast, an archipelago the size of Japan that a gorilla could swing across 100 meters up, never seeing the ground.
Not to mention even larger Tellus and Bell, to the southwest, with the tallest trees and richest, craziest ecologies in the solar system...

 Ceremonial Birth Chants in Polynesia
In the first chant the word tumu serves as keynote as the chanter welcomes the generating pair Tane and Hine, "source" or "cause" or "origin" of all things; hails the rainbow,
Next a search is declared for the "cause," the "origin," and the child is found to be born from the "stem," from the "seed" spread by 'Atea, Fakahotu, and Rongo, the repeated word tumu in the text being given a variety of meanings in the English translation.
A couplet follows voicing an aphorism consistent with Kukahi's distinction between the separate worlds for gods and men:

The text said that the tree was sacred to Fakahotu, the Polynesian Goddess of Motherhood and Children and was used to make ceremonial masks for fertility rites.
The book went on to say that Fakahotu was the patron goddess of the island and was held in great reverence by the islanders.
I found the fatuous beliefs of ignorant savages too silly to contemplate and turned to a description of the islander's fishing techniques.
